NBA DFS Advice for March 28, 2022

Nikola Jokic
LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 01: Denver Nuggets Forward Nikola Jokic (15) looks to make a pass over Los Angeles Clippers Center Ivica Zubac (40) during a NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers on April 1, 2021 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA. We have nine games on tonight’s NBA DFS slate, for what looks like something of a value smorgasbord. The first team we must mention tonight is the Oklahoma City Thunder, where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Darius Bazley will be joining Lu Dort and Josh Giddey on the sideline. There are not many options left for the Thunder and a few of the guys who are left love to take a lot of shots. After the Thunder, we have some value from the Warriors, Blazers, and Grizzlies tonight, who are all dealing with injuries to key guys.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 3/28/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardT. Maledon $4,500
Shooting Guard
Small Forward
Power Forward
CenterN. Jokic $12,200
Guard
Forward
Utility

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been dealing with a ton of injuries lately, and things have hit an all-time low with Gilgeous-Alexander and Bazley sidelined. There is going to be a ton of opportunity for a few Thunder players against Portland tonight, making them some of our favorite options on the slate. Theo Maledon is an absolute priority for us tonight at $4,500, as he should continue to see massive minutes and usage. Maledon has started each of the past two games, which has led to 32 minutes and 13 shot attempts in each of those outings. Maledon has gone for 43 and 32 FPTS respectively, so he clearly has amazing upside in this spot.

As we often mention in our articles, the best DFS producer in the NBA over the past two seasons has been Nikola Jokic. Jokic is always a guy we are looking at given his ability to go over 70 FPTS, so he is a priority for us tonight with an amazing matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. Jokic should see a few extra possessions in this pace-up spot, and the Charlotte frontcourt has little hope of slowing him down.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 3/28/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Anyone who is not a complete smash is going to be a fade for a single entry tonight, as we have a slew of options that look incredible. Darius Garland is looking at the highest DFS price of his entire NBA career at $10,300, so this is the definition of buying high on a guy. Garland is a great producer, but not quite great enough to merit this tag. We can do a lot of things with $10,300 tonight, and for us rostering Garland will not be one of them.

Point Guard

Payton Pritchard – ($3,900 DK) We just got the news that the Boston Celtics are going to sit Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, against the Raptors tonight. There is going to be a ton of extra opportunity for these Celtics guys, as Boston just become our favorite source for value on this slate – even over the Thunder. Pritchard has been playing a solid role for the Celtics, as he has gone over 20 FPTS in each of the past five games. Pritchard is averaging 27.9 FPTS across the past ten days, so he would be an absolute priority with a healthy Celtics team. With Tatum and Brown, out Pritchard is truly a no-brainer at $3,900.

Shooting Guard

Derrick White – ($5,300 DK) Staying with the Celtics, White is another phenomenal value at only $5,300. White is priced decently for his typical production on the Celtics, and we expect a solid boost for him given all the injuries to this team. White should be in for solid run with the starting unit tonight, and we know from his time on the Spurs that he can take on a volume role when need be.

Small Forward

Keon Johnson – ($3,900 DK) Johnson started for Portland last time out, and we expect that to continue tonight considering their lack of options. Johnson was ok with 22 FPTS, but he had the upside to go for a lot more as he took 15 attempts from the floor. Johnson played 32 minutes last game, and he looks great he is going to see that kind of floor time.

Power Forward

Aleksej Pokusevski – ($5,900 DK) It is easier to list off the Thunder Players active tonight than the guys ruled out, as most of their core rotation is sidelined. Pokusevski will continue to start here, and he has the potential to take on a ton of usage. Pokusevski played 35 minutes last game, and he was one of the top options left for the Thunder. His upside is sky-high tonight, so we will be rostering quite a lot of him.

Center

Daniel Theis – ($3,700 DK) Closing it out with yet another Celtics, Theis is the only center left on this roster. We expect him to start at the five here, and he should see one of his biggest opportunities of the year. Theis does not need to do too much for us at this price, but the upside is certainly there given the situation.

General strategy

There was already a ton of injury news going around on this slate in the morning, and we have had more and more break as we write this article. We are looking at one of those overwhelming value slates, as this is going to be a challenge of too many amazing options. For Cash games tonight we are going to lock in the Joker and surround him from value options out of Boston and the Thunder. For tournaments, we do not have to worry too much about getting contrarian, as with so many directions to go some of these guys will be less owned than you might expect.
