There are nine games to break down for tonight’s NBA DFS slate. We have some great plays spread across the slate, and there is no one team we are really looking to go all-in on. It is a stark difference from last night when we were going for three or four guys from Portland. We are also going to a much more balanced lineup then what we usually construct, as a few of our absolute priorities are in the $7,000 range. We really like getting to the matchup between the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets, as that should be a track meet with the way those two teams play.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 1/14/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardD. Garland $7,800
Shooting Guard
Small Forward
Power Forward.
Center
GuardT. Maxey $5,600
Forward
Utility

This is the cheapest price tag we have seen on Garland in the past ten days, as we are not used to seeing him under $8,000 anymore. Garland is the heart and soul of this team’s offense, as he is always in for a ton of usage and playmaking responsibilities. The low price on Garland is coming at the perfect time, as the Cavaliers have a fantastic matchup against the fast-paced Spurs. Garland is always a high upside producer and his chances of having a good game increase significantly with this matchup.

We have a lot of point guards that we want to get today, so our guard and utility spots will see a lot of PGs. Tyrese Maxey disappointed us last time out with a poor shooting performance, but he is still too cheap for his role tonight at $5,600. Maxey played 13 minutes last game, and he shot the ball 13 times. Maxey is averaging 30 FPTS on the season, and we expect even more than that with the kind of role we saw from him yesterday.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 1/14/22 (using DraftKings Values)

A guy who goes for 30 FPTS some nights and 60 FPTS on other nights should not be priced at $10,600. However, that is precisely the case of Steph Curry here. Curry has been a frequent fade for us this season, as he has been way too expensive for DFS given his production. We all know Curry is one of the best players of all time, but we are clearly playing a DFS premium for that which does not make much sense.

Point Guard

De’Aaron Fox – ($7,600 DK) As we mentioned in our introduction, we are looking to get a lot of exposure to this matchup between the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings. These are two of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA, so there should be a few extra possessions created in this one. Fox has been more productive over the past few weeks, and we still think his stock has a lot of rising to do this season.

Shooting Guard

Jordan Poole – ($5,000 DK) Poole has lost his spot in the starting spot and significant floor time to the returning Klay Thompson. We have also seen the price fall on Poole about $800 in that span. We know Thompson will rest the back-to-back tonight, so that should mean Poole is back with the starting unit. Poole has a lot of upside, and he is averaging over 28 FPTS on the season. He is an easy value here, as he is clearly cheaper than he would be if Thompson never came back.

Small Forward

De’Andre Hunter  ($3,400 DK) Hunter made his return last time after missing a whopping two months of basketball. He played 24 minutes in the first game back, and he took solid usage with 11 shot attempts. He went for 21.75 FPTS last game, and he could be in for more run as he gets his conditioning down. Regardless, Hunter is too cheap here and a great option for cheap value.

Power Forward

Harrison Barnes – ($5,500 DK) Barnes is getting very cheap here, as he has been relatively disappointing over the past few weeks. However, we know Barnes is a good DFS producer, and he is still averaging 29.7 FPTS on the season after his woes. He showed the producer he is last game, with 38.25 FPTS. He is way too cheap here, and this matchup against Houston makes him a total priority.

Center

Christian Wood – ($7,400 DK) We have already mentioned a few Kings we will be playing tonight, but we want to get some exposure to both sides of this matchup. Wood is another priority tonight and our favorite option from the Rockets. Wood crushed last night with over 45 FPTS against the Spurs, and we often see him show upside with good matchups. He looks great against the King’s frontcourt, and this is a nice price tag for Wood.

General strategy

Last nights slate was all about stacking value from one team, this is one that is going to be much more interesting with our priorities spread across the slate. For Cash games tonight we are going to lock in as much as we can from the Houston – Sacramento matchup. Wood, Fox, Barnes, and Poole will be our absolute priorities for Cash. For tournaments, we will get some exposure to everyone we have mentioned here. We also like using LaMelo Ball, Ja Morant, and Cole Anthony for GPP’s as they all have a ton of upside. Good luck with this one and keep an eye on the news. A few guys being ruled out could really turn this slate on its head.
