NBA DFS Advice for February 27, 2022

Nikola Jokic
LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 01: Denver Nuggets Forward Nikola Jokic (15) looks to make a pass over Los Angeles Clippers Center Ivica Zubac (40) during a NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers on April 1, 2021 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA. The game was played without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Photo by Brian Rothmuller/Icon Sportswire)

We have five games to break down tonight, as there is less value here than we have been used to lately. One team we like getting to tonight is the Detroit Pistons, who are fairly priced for a great matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. We also like getting the Lakers, where a few guys have been great in the absence of Anthony Davis. We are also watching one key questionable tag here, as Klay Thompson may be sidelined tonight.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 2/27/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardJ. Poole $5,000
Shooting Guard
Small Forward
Power Forward
CenterN. Jokic
Guard
Forward
Utility

The price tag on Jordan Poole has come down significantly over the past week, and $5,000 is about as cheap as we ever see him. Poole looks great here, as he always has the upside to go well over 30 FPTS. He is averaging 27.7 FPTS on the season, so there is a lot to like at this price. If we find out that Thompson is not able to play tonight, Poole becomes even more of a priority.

With only five games tonight, it is hard to get away from the consistent production of Nikola Jokic. The Joker is expensive, but we have some very cheap plays elsewhere to save the salary. He is averaging four FPTS more than anyone else on the slate, as must do everything for this Nuggets squad. The Portland Trailblazers are running a weak frontcourt with Jusuf Nurkic sidelined, so we expect them to be helpless in defending Jokic tonight.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 2/27/22 (using DraftKings Values)

It is hard to pick a fade on such a short slate, and if you are playing multiple lineups you want exposure to as many studs as possible. However, LaMelo Ball is way too expensive at $9,600. Ball went for 28 FPTS in his last game, and he is priced a lot closer to his ceiling than his floor here. He does have some great upside, but at this salary, we can be a lot safer.

Here Is What Your Get If You Subscribe For $15 Per Month or $99 For The Year…
• A star guard who has been on fire with a new team.
• Two wings with massive upside.
• A cheap big who is stepping into the starting lineup.• Our priorities if Thompson sits.

Point Guard

CJ McCollum – ($8,900 DK) McCollum is getting expensive here, but we cannot ignore how productive he has been since joining the Pelicans. He has scored 57.25, 42, 52, 53.5, and 47.5 FPTS respectively across his past five games while taking a ton of usage as a top option in New Orleans. This is a solid matchup against the Lakers, and we are happy to spend up for McCollum if we can find the salary.

Shooting Guard

Cade Cunningham – ($7,100 DK) As we mentioned in the introduction, the Pistons look better than usual tonight with this matchup against the Hornets. Cunningham has a ton of upside, so we really like getting to him on this five-gamer. He always takes a ton of usage, as he usually plays over 30 minutes in close games. The Hornets play at the fastest pace in the league, so we are always eager to target them in DFS.

Small Forward

Andrew Wiggins – ($5,800 DK) Wiggins has been disappointing over the past few games, which has caused his price to fall. Wiggins is about as cheap as we ever see him at this point, so we really like getting to him for his upside. If Thompson plays Wiggins is a solid tournament option, but he is one of our favorite options on the slate if Thompson sits.

Power Forward

Carmelo Anthony – ($5,000 DK) Anthony offers a ton of variance in his production, so he is not a guy we are going to get to for Cash games. However, his upside is fantastic, and he has had to shoot the ball more with Davis out. Anthony has shown upside over 40 FPTS lately, as he saw some huge opportunities going into the all-star break.

Center

Dwight Howard – ($3,000 DK) With no Davis last game Howard started at center, and he exploded with 44.5 FPTS. We cannot expect Howard to be quite as productive here, but we don’t need him to be as he remains at $3,000. Anything over 20 FPTS would make Howard a great play here, especially with a lack of options tonight.

General strategy

The Thompson news is big here, as there is a lot to like from the Warriors if he ends up out. As we mentioned Poole and Wiggins both look great, while players like Gary Payton II and Otto Porter look solid for value. Otherwise, we are looking to use the Lakers for a lot of our cheaper plays, Howard, Anthony, and Talen Horton-Tucker all look solid. Good luck tonight and keep an eye on the news as anything unexpected would be huge tonight.
