We continue to see a ton of guys sidelined with tonight’s NBA DFS slate, as a few squads have entered hardcore tank mode. Our biggest priority tonight is going to be getting right back to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have taken an extreme approach to tanking over the past few games. The Thunder have been playing the six or seven bottom guys on their rotation for the entire game, so some players most of us have barely heard of are playing 40 minutes a night. We are going to a stars and scrubs lineup again, as we have a few priorities under $4,000.

Here are Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 4/8/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardZ. Simpson $3,900
Shooting GuardK. Irving $10,200
Small Forward
Power Forward
Center
Guard
Forward
Utility

Zavier Simpson has started the past two games for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he has played a whopping 44 and 39 minutes in those games. Simpson is only $3,900 here, so he is going to be a priority for us if he continues to start. Simpson has scored 26.25 and 28.25 FPTS respectively in the past two games, and he has upside for a lot more if he can put together a good shooting night.

The Brooklyn Nets are tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the eighth seed, which is key for play-in seeding. We have seen the Nets play their stars 40 or more minutes in each of the past few games, and they have taken on a ton of usage. Kyrie Irving is a priority for us here at $10,200, as his upside is fantastic with the role has been taking. Irving has played 45, 44, 40, and 43 minutes in each of the past four games respectively, with massive usage in each game.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 4/8/22 (using DraftKings Values)

There are a few matchups that we do not expect to stay close tonight, so we are avoiding spending up for certain stars. Giannis Antetokounmpo has an easy matchup against the Pistons, but we are concerned about his being limited for a blowout. We prefer spending up to stars like Irving who we expect to take on massive roles for their teams.

Point Guard

Kyle Lowry – ($6,000 DK) Lowry has been fantastic over the past few games, as he has been playing a lot of minutes lately. He has scored well over 35 FPTS in each of the past three outings, so it is surprising to see that he is only $6,000 here. This is about as cheap as we will ever see Lowry, so he is a priority on this slate.

Shooting Guard

Melvin Frazier Jr. – ($3,100 DK) Frazier was just picked up by the Thunder on a ten-day contract, and he is instantly stepping into a massive role. He played 33 minutes in his first game with the Thunder, taking 15 shot attempts. Frazier has a ton of upside for $3,100, and we are eager to see if the Thunder slide him into the starting five.

Small Forward

Bogdan Bogdanovic – ($5,300 DK) Bogdanovic has been productive in the last few games, as the Hawks are playing their core guys’ massive run right now. He went for 38.75 and 29.5 FPTS respectively in the last two outings, and he has been taking enough usage for some great upside. Bogdanovic is cheap here for how much run the Hawks are giving their starters, so he looks great with sg/sf eligibility.

Power Forward

Pascal Siakam – ($9,600 DK) With all our fantastic budget plays tonight we are going to have a lot of spare salary to spend up with. Siakam looks fantastic here, as he is on fire and has a dream matchup against the Houston Rockets. Siakam had one of the best performances of his entire career last night, and he has a much easier matchup tonight. He has been on a tear for a little while now, so we are happy spending up for him.

Center

Jericho Sims – ($3,700 DK) With most of the other Knicks big men sidelined, we saw Sims start and play 35 minutes last time against the Nets. He was great with 38.25 FPTS, so at $3,700 he will be a priority if he continues to start. Sims did a lot last game, but at this price, he can provide great value without getting as hot.

General strategy

We are expecting to get a lot more injury news by the time this slate locks, as with nine games there is a lot that can happen at this point in the season. We are going to have tons of value at the bottom of the slate again here, so our big challenge will be picking the spend-up options that hit. We are focused on superstars whose teams still need to win, as they are the ones playing the big minutes right now.
