Jokic from Denver

The streak of three games slates continues tonight, as this one is looking for a lot tougher than the past few nights. It is hard to find any great sources of value across the slate tonight, so we have lower standards for our plays than on some other slates. We are going to more of stars and scrubs build tonight, as the best plays that we do have are closer to the top end. Our biggest challenge here is finding budget options we are happy with, but there are a few guys we like taking chances on.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 4/21/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardD. Russell $7,000
Shooting Guard
Small ForwardR. O’Neale $4,000
Power Forward
Center
Guard
Forward
Utility

D’Angelo Russell has been underwhelming in both playoff games so far, as he has shot 2-11 and 3-11. Russell is still taking on a lot of usage here, and he should play massive minutes if game three stays close tonight. He is coming in at a very affordable $7,000, and having cheaper studs is important on a slate like this where we do not have a lot of salary savings. Russell has a ton of upside, as a big game at his price gets you a lot further than someone that costs $2,000 more to get to.

As we have mentioned the budget plays are ugly tonight, so we are happy getting anyone who is very cheap and a shoo-in for big minutes. Royce O’Neale fits that description to a tee, as we know he will always be out there for over 30 minutes. He averaged 20.5 FPTS per game this year, and he usually does a bit more in the playoffs. He is coming off a nice 30.25 FPT performance, and we really don’t need much from him in this spot.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 4/21/22 (using DraftKings Values)

One guy we are avoiding here is Luka Doncic who could make his return to the court tonight for game three. Doncic is a great producer, but it is likely he is limited tonight in some way. We would rather spend up a little more to get a sure thing in Nikola Jokic or save a few thousand and spend down to a cheaper star.

Point Guard

Steph Curry – ($8,900 DK) Curry scored 34 points off the bench last game, pouring in 49.3 FPTS in only 22.6 minutes. Curry does not look great if he is only going to play 23 minutes, but we know his minutes are going to trend up. The Warriors have had a few days off since their last game, so we expect Curry to take a significant minute’s jump. Curry has been priced down significantly, so a big night from him at this price would be huge.

Shooting Guard

Donovan Mitchell – ($8,400 DK) We have spoken about Mitchell in each of his playoff games so far, and for good reason, as he has been the highest usage player in the league so far this playoff. Mitchell went for 52 FPTS in game one and 45 in game two, and that is without putting together an efficient shooting night. He is taking about 30 shots a night right now, and if he does not show up the Jazz are at risk of getting embarrassed in this series.

Small Forward

Reggie Bullock – ($5,100 DK) If we find out that Doncic can play tonight, Bullock does not look as good as we do not know if he will have to play the crazy run he has in the past few games. However, if Doncic remains out Bullock is a great budget option tonight. He is not a good per-minute producer, but he is playing well over 40 minutes a game right now.

Power Forward

Jaden Mcdaniels – ($3,600 DK) Mcdaniels is a bold addition here, as he is coming off a measly 9.25 FPT performance. However, that floor production was due to his missing 6 of his seven attempts and all four of his threes. He was great in game one with 34.75 FPTS, and if he can show some of that upside at this price we may need him here.

Center

Karl-Anthony Towns – ($9,300 DK) Towns was held to just 15 points and 33.25 FPTS in a blowout loss last time out, but we are happy getting back to him here. We do not expect Towns to only shoot the ball seven times again, especially as the Wolves try and take back the momentum at home. Towns is coming in at a great price of $9,300 here, as he is one of the best DFS producers in the NBA. He has a ton of upside here, so he is a priority in this spot.

General strategy

The Doncic news is huge for tonight, as if he plays we will be looking to get away from the Mavericks in General. However, if Doncic remains out we can keep getting to some of the Dallas options like Bullock and Spencer Dinwiddie. We do not have to worry too much about getting contrarian for tournaments tonight, as our priorities are not overly obvious like on some other slates.
