Jokic from Denver
LOS ANGELES, CA - OCTOBER 10: Los Angeles Clippers Center Montrezl Harrell (5) and Denver Nuggets Forward Nikola Jokic (15) battle for a rebound during a NBA preseason game between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers on October 10, 2019 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA. There is a massive ten-game NBA DFS slate for us to break down tonight, as we have a ton of value to talk about for this one. We must start by mentioning the Memphis Grizzlies, who will be resting their core of Desmond Bane, Steven Adams, Tyus Jones, and Jaren Jackson Jr. along with JaMorant tonight. The Grizzlies look ridiculous here for DFS, so we will be getting to three or four guys from Memphis. We also want some exposure to the Houston Rockets matchup against the Sacramento Kings, as those two teams are phenomenal matchup targets.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 4/1/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point Guard
Shooting Guard
Small Forward
Power ForwardK. Anderson $4,100
CenterN. Jokic $12,500
Guard
Forward
Utility

As we mentioned in our introduction it is going to be all about the Grizzlies for us tonight. They are missing four of their five usual starters, so most guys on their roster will see a big bump if they can play. Kyle Anderson looks fantastic tonight at $4,100, as he should start and play a massive role on the Grizzlies. With most of the high-usage guys on this team sidelined, there will be a ton of usage on the table, so guys like Anderson have tremendous upside. We are curious to who starts for Memphis here, as Anderson will be one of the best plays on the slate if he is in the starting unit.

With all the injuries on this slate, we will have more salary than we know what to do with. One guy we are always happy to splurge on is Nikola Jokic at $12,500, as he is the best DFS producer in the league. Jokic has a fantastic matchup against the fast-paced Timberwolves tonight, so we are betting on a big game from him. Jokic usually delivers, which is what we need from our spend-up options tonight – as the real value is in the budget plays.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 4/1/22 (using DraftKings Values)

We have a ton of amazing options to fill our lineup with tonight, so anyone who does not look fantastic for DFS value will be an easy fade. Jayson Tatum is too expensive for us at $10,300, and we have some other stars in much better matchups. This price is not terrible in a vacuum, but with some of the other value here it is really lacking.

Point Guard

Kevin Porter Jr. – ($7,500 DK) We had Porter Jr. in the same situation last time, facing the Sacramento Kings with a slew of injuries to the Rockets. He was a priority for us, as well as a fantastic play in the end with 70 FPTS. Porter had to do a little bit of everything last time, and the Kings are missing a few guys as well so we expect it to stay close again.

Shooting Guard

De’Anthony Melton – ($5,200 DK) Melton is an absolute priority here with all the absent Grizzlies, as we expect him to be the number one ball-handler tonight. Melton should start at the point tonight, and we know he has some solid upside when he has the ball in his hands a lot. We have seen him take high usage in limited minutes lately, and we expect the young guard to be given the full keys to the offense tonight.

Small Forward

Dillon Brooks – ($5,900 DK) At $5,900 Brooks looked fantastic with just Morant out, knowing all the other Grizzlies sidelined we expect him to take on a huge role in this spot. He should be the top usage guy for Memphis, so he has fantastic upside if he can put together a good shooting night. Usually, Brooks is scoring dependent, but with all the absences for the Grizzlies, he can drop a triple-double for all we know.

Power Forward

Bobby Portis – ($6,300 DK) Portis is having a career year, as he has reached a new level of DFS productivity across the board. He is one of the few core Bucks guys who was not ruled out for rest tonight, so he is going to be an absolute priority for us. He should play a ton of minutes in this one, and we expect him to be asked to do a lot more of everything in this spot.

Center

Brandon Clarke – ($4,000 DK) The Memphis Grizzlies frontcourt is going to be very thin tonight, as both Adams and Jackson Jr. are sidelined. We expect Clarke to start here, and he should be in for a ton of floor time regardless of if things stay close. Clarke has a lot of upside in this spot, and at $4,000 his floor is fantastic if he does end up starting.

General strategy

We have officially entered NBA garbage time. As teams begin to lock into their spots for the playoffs, the last few regular-season games lose all relevance. We see teams begin to rest their entire starting units, while some younger players will get much larger opportunities. The big teams resting tonight are the Grizzlies, Bucks, and Clippers, so that is where we will be looking for cheaper value. The Grizzlies are still our favorite team for Cash games, but for tournaments, we will try and get a few games from each squad.
