George Springer
BUFFALO, NY - JULY 21: Toronto Blue Jays Center Fielder George Springer (4) watches his two run home run during the sixth inning of a Major League Baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays on July 21, 2021, at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, NY. We have four games on the slate today with the first pitch at 6:40 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by George Springer. and the Toronto Blue Jays taking on Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees.

You will want to keep an eye on the weather tonight for the Mariners and White Sox as there is a high chance of rain all through this game in Chicago.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 4/13/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Corbin Burnes ($9,600) – Burnes didn’t have his best start last week, but that is to be expected early in the season. This is a great matchup for Burnes today facing an Orioles team that strikes out a lot, and pair that with Burnes’ career 33 percent strikeout rate, and you have the potential for him to put up a really nice DFS number for you today.

Jed Lowrie ($3,700) – Lowrie has had a solid start to the season for the Athletics. He hit a home run last night and he had two hits in his game before that. The A’s have also been scoring lots of runs which should provide him with lots of opportunities to meet or exceed his value today.

George Springer ($4,700) – You would typically shy away from Gerrit Cole matchups, but this time of year pitchers are more apt to struggle, and Springer has two home runs in two of his last three games, and he has multi-hit games in four straight games also.

The Pitchers

Shane McClanahan ($7,500 DK) McClanahan was solid for the Rays in his first start, but he only went 4.1 innings, which kept him from getting the win. With that said, he still struck out seven batters and didn’t give up any runs, so if you can get that kind of performance at his price you will be in a good place, and if he can get two more batters out he could add a win to his point total which only helps.

Gerrit Cole ($9,200 DK) – I would be cautious with the usage of Cole today. He only threw four innings in his first start and you don’t need me to tell you how dangerous this Blue Jays lineup can be. The only advantage he will have today is his ownership is likely to be lower than normal which will be nice if he had a more Cole-like start.

The Value Players

Ji-Man Choi ($3,900) – Coming into today’s game, Choi has three straight multi-hit games with two doubles and a home run. That is really great value for a player who is priced under 4k and his hitting in the four spots in a potent Rays lineup.

Andrew Vaughn ($3,700) – The once top prospect Vaughn has shown off why he was so well respected in his first three games this season, with hits in three straight games, and two homers as well. While I have concerns that this game might not get played if it does he likely won’t see high ownership due to those weather concerns.

Mike Brosseau ($2,800) – You’re going to get Brosseau near the minimum price today, and he has had no issues hitting John Means in the past with five hits and four home runs in 11 at-bats to date.

The Stacks

Chicago White Sox – There are plenty of options to choose from at the top of the White Sox lineup when you’re looking to stack them. I would look to Luis Robert, who can do it all for them, and pair him with Eloy Jimenez and Andrew Vaughn to ensure you have the budget left to balance your lineup.

Milwaukee Brewers – We discussed Brosseau earlier, and I would add Andrew McCutchen and Hunter Renfroe to him to round out your stack. Renfroe didn’t quite give us as much as we would have liked yesterday but he is always dangerous against left-handed pitching.

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays have been putting up a lot of runs against the Athletics in this series. I would look to take the value we are getting from Ji-Man Choi and use that to get Wander Franco and Yandy Diaz into your lineup.
