The Dallas Stars have taken an early lead in the Stanley Cup Finals beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1. The Lightning looked vulnerable amid their injuries and the Stars took every advantage. It was their depth that really shined with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin being held pointless. Will Tampa be able to steady the ship and even the score?
Our free pick today is from the Dallas defensive corp. Esa Lindell ($5,400 DK, $7,000 FD) has been a physical force the whole playoffs but has not seen his name on the scoresheet that often. He has picked up a couple assists in the last two games while also throwing down 14 blocks in the last three games. He is piling on the fantasy points and most people have not noticed yet. Get him while he is still low key.
Behind the paywall we have a couple of other curve balls that you might not expect from us. We found some value in interesting places and excited to share that with you. Come on in and see what we found.
Captain DFS Pick For September 21, 2020
It has been a long time since we have taken a goalie but Anton Khudobin ($15,300 DK) deserves the nod tonight. He has been absolutely stonewalling competition and in the Stars defensive scheme he is flourishing. If you are on FanTrax go ahead and throw Jamie Benn ($8,200 DK, $15,000 FD)at the top. We like him as a flex spot as well so if you are on DraftKings go ahead and put him next to Khudobin at a nice reduced price.
Flex DFS Picks For September 21, 2020
We are stocking up on the Stars today and putting faith in their top line. Tyler Seguin ($8,600 DK, $11,500 FD) was someone we avoided last game but are feeling his breakout coming. He is putting shots on net and nothing is going. For whatever reason he is snakebit but he has been in the finals before and we think he will hit his stride again.
The last forward from the Stars that we have for you today is Denis Gurianov ($6,800 DK, $8,000 FD) due to our tight budget on DraftKings. If you are on FanDuel you can afford to grab Joe Pavelski ($7,800 DK, $9,000 FD). We definitely prefer Pavelski here but valuations between the two platforms are all over the place today. The two still make a good pair and are going to get the job done.
We have not totally dropped out of giving the Lightning some love and so are picking up a nice and cheap Barclay Goodrow ($4,600 DK, $7,500 FD). He was one of the few point getters for Tampa and has been using his time on the second line well. He is a plug and play player able to fit in wherever Jon Cooper needs him. He has a ton of utility and while the top line struggles we like having some insurance from their next best option.
One thing you will be getting out of today’s picks is really just a tight menu on who you would like to have. We have another couple of defenders depending on where your budget is at. John Klingberg ($7,200 DK, $11,000 FD) and Kevin Shattenkirk ($6,400 DK, $8,500 FD) are both solid bargains for what they bring to the table. Klingberg has been on and off our list the whole playoffs but Shattenkirk is new. He has been a beast blocking shots and taking shots. He is currently top pairing with Victor Hedman and second power play. He is all the opportunity you need to succeed.
Avoid DFS Picks For September 21, 2020
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Brayden Point just did not look like his usual self out there. Hopefully a couple more days rest have helped but he is not at one hundred percent right now. Give him a little time and he will likely be back as your fantasy captain but not tonight.
Cheers and have a great week!
