Just as we all predicted the Stanley Cup Finals will be between two of the southern most teams and will be held in September. The Tampa Bay Lightning finished off the New York Islanders and will face the Dallas Stars to compete for Lord Stanley’s cup. We would love this to be a high scoring affair but there is a good chance that Anton Khudobin and Andrei Vasilevskiy will have something to say about that. The Dallas Stars stingy defense was what took down the Vegas Knights and they have had a couple extra days to watch tape on the Lightning. There is no clear winner here and we can’t wait for the drama to unfold.
Predicting who will shine in the finals is a tough job but we are here to take the load off of you. Our free pick for game one is the game winner from two nights ago. Anthony Cirelli ($6,200 DK, $8,000 FD) sent the Islanders packing and scored his first goal in many games. He had been relatively quiet but was using his opportunities and never gave up. He is firmly the second line center and with the confidence boost from scoring the overtime winner we are going to put our chips on him.
Behind the paywall we have an interesting cross-section of players from both teams as we figure out which team has the upper hand. There is a good spread of point producers and a surprise player that we think is going to make an impact.
Captain DFS Pick For September 19, 2020
Brayden Point ($13,200 DK, $14,000 FD) ended up playing last game and even though he did not score a point he racked up the fantasy points in shots and blocks alone. He is the biggest impact player out there and if the Lightning win out he is going to be the Conn Smythe winner. As long as he is healthy he is leading the charge for us.
Flex DFS Picks For September 19, 2020
On the other side of the ice we have one of our favorite real life captains. We can’t say enough good things about Jamie Benn’s ($8,000 DK, $15,000 FD) performance this postseason. In 21 games he has 18 points and just finds ways to score. He will try to set the level of competition for his team and we think he will be the first one to find the back of the net for them.
Our next couple players are the top two defensemen left in the game. You may only be able to afford one if you are on Fantrax but they are worth it. Victor Hedman ($9,200 DK, $12,500 FD) and Miro Heiskanen ($7,800 DK, $9,500 FD) are both solid in their own end but shine when it comes to their offense. They have no fear when it comes to bringing the puck into the offensive zone and are a complete headache for other teams. They will be taking shots, blocking them, and putting up fantasy points all around for your squad.
Our last player is a little deeper but we think is set up to succeed at least in game one. Tyler Johnson ($5,400 DK, $7,000 FD) has been a mainstay on Tampa Bay’s third line for most of the season but he has moved up to the wing on the second line with Anthony Cirelli. Graduating to a higher line is always a great sign of confidence from a coach and those extra minutes are everything Johnson has been working to earn. We think the two of them are going to capitalize and be the difference makers tonight.
Avoid DFS Picks For September 19, 2020
We are going back to Tyler Seguin as a player to avoid right now. In real life he is making an impact and is always a player you want on your team. Right now in fantasy though he is just not producing. Until he makes an obvious turn around there is too much other talent that is going to score us points that we will pass.
One last series to get your fantasy hockey picks in. Don’t you worry though because here at Fantasy DFS Experts we have plenty of other sports for you to bet on.
