The biggest question coming out of last night’s tilt where Tampa Bay smoked New York is this; was it just exhaustion or are the Lightning just that much better than the Islanders? We will find out more about that tomorrow but what a statement of a game. Tampa may just want it more after throwing the monkey from their backs when they beat Columbus. Stay tuned for that action as we will have a couple sneaky picks for you.
There are few sleepers to be found in this matchup as we have a pretty good feeling on how everyone is playing. Our free value pick for you today is going to be John Klingberg ($6,600 DK, $10,000 FD). He has had a very productive postseason and while everyone clamors to get Heiskanen you can get a high scoring defenceman for a little less money.
Behind the paywall expect to find value picks for a killer forward and a goalie that is looking to be a real power move.
Captain DFS Pick For 9/8/20
Jamie Benn ($12,300 DK, $15,500 FD) has been proving himself as a grinder of a leader. He has not been the most flashy guy out there but he has gotten the job done. He is built for a deep playoff run and we are thrilled to watch him put the boot to opponents. He may have jumped around lines a little bit but his linemates are a little less important when he gets to the front of the net and bullies defenses. He is a bit of a gamble for the points multiplier but if he hits the jackpot so will you.
Flex DFS Picks For 9/8/20
Miro Heiskanen ($7,800 DK, $11,000 FD) is still the top blueliner to own right now and we like stacking him with Klingberg as they complement each other very well. Between the two of them they have twenty points in the last ten games. Miro has most of those but Klingbergs have come at very opportune times such as the last game when it was the game winner. Put them together and they will terrorize their opponents.
The price for this talent is finally coming closer to his real value. Denis Gurianov ($6,800 DK, $8,500 FD) may have had his six game point streak broken but he is still putting pucks on net and the Russian is on a line with two young Finns who are also trying to make names for themselves. Stick with Gurianov and you will be rewarded.
We still can’t recommend Kiviranta just yet but we are still putting significant investment in Roope Hintz ($6,000 DK, $7,500 FD). This is a really interesting line combination and we feel like they are going to pop off soon. One of the biggest opportunities is going to be the second power play which is where Heiskanen is penciled in. They will be listed as third or fourth line but they can do first or second line damage.
If you are on DraftKings you should have another slot and enough money to put Anton Khudobin ($9,800) in. We have been cautious about netminders but this is a good time to go for it. The Stars are clicking and so is Dobby. His numbers have been outstanding and we even considered making him our captain for this contest. He has already earned a nice new contract but first he is going to try and win the cup.
Avoid DFS Picks For 9/8/20
Unlike yesterday we are not intentionally fading an entire team. We feel good about the Stars overall and are making them our primary stack. The Knights will do more damage than last time but their physicality is much better matched in Dallas. We are benching Max Pacioretty until further notice. He thrives on getting in peoples heads and being something of a pest but with guys like Oleksiak and Lindell to handle that we think his game is going to stay muted.
We hope your Labor Day was awesome and that you have a great week ahead. Let’s keep these hot picks rolling.
