DFS NHL Fantasy Hockey Picks For 9/7/20

Ondrej Palat playing hockey
BOSTON, MA - MARCH 07: Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat (18) shoots in warm up before a game between the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 7, 2020 at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Fred Kfoury III/Icon Sportswire)

Yesterday’s game may not have been the highest scoring affair but there were some interesting stat lines. The Dallas Stars scored on their first shot and that was all she wrote. They held the Vegas Golden Knights to ten shots through the better part of two periods and Anton Khudobin got a huge shutout to start the series. We love high scoring series as much as anyone else but the goaltending battles will be a major part of this storyline.

Looking at the first game in the Tampa Bay Lightning versus the New York Islanders series we have a hidden gem for you to check out. Ondrej Palat ($7,400 DK, $ 9,500 FD) was the Bruins killer. He scored a goal for every game that was played against them. With Steven Stamkos continuing to be sidelined look for Palat to take the first line time and run with it. He is even getting coveted first line power play time and will be looking to cash in.

Captain DFS Pick For 9/7/20

We are sticking with this top line tonight because they are well rested and because they can completely change the complexion of the game in a single shift. Brayden Point ($13,500 DK, $15,500 FD) will be a big part of your budget but with Kucherov and Palat on his wings he is set to do some damage.

Flex DFS Picks For 9/7/20

Nikita Kucherov ($10,200 DK, $14,000 FD) could easily be your captain pick as well, but we believe there is more savings and value to be had in having Point be your main guy. Kucherov is a prolific shot taker at worst and an over 100 point per season player at best. His slight injury scare during game five against the Bruins is now a week gone and we trust that he is ready to go.

Coming down a little in price we still find ourselves on the Lightning’s second line and first power play. Alex Killorn ($5,800 DK, $9,000 FD) does a little of everything on this team and is clearly trusted highly by the coaching staff. The time on ice he will see this game should give him ample opportunity to shine and show that Tampa has fantastic depth.

Our last pair has a little nuance depending on which platform you are on. On DraftKings we can afford everyone here that we have suggested. It is a little too much on FanDuel but we would swap out Kucherov for these two. You already have Point and Palat so spread the love and pick up Anthony Cirelli ($5,200 DK, $7500 FD) and Blake Coleman ($6,600 DK, $7,000 FD). Cirelli is getting another opportunity to show that he can be a top six center in this league and he knows that he has a short leash. Coleman is just your straight up work hard and do absolutely everything asked of you kind of guy. Stealing him from the Devils was a brilliant move and continues to illustrate how many ways the Lightning can take you down.

Avoid DFS Picks For 9/7/20

You may have already guessed it but we are going to pass on the Islanders as a whole tonight. Tampa is much more rested and has a lot more offense than the Flyers did. They will be testing the boys from Long Island and they will be going hard right away.

We hope your fantasy picks stay hot and your September stays cool. See you tomorrow for another look at the Western Conference Finals.
