There is one more game until the Conference Final teams are set. We are looking forward to a game seven battle that we expect to go down to the wire. Last night’s game seven between the Golden Knights and Canucks may have stayed scoreless until the third but the Knights were way up shots and were owning all parts of the ice. It was only a matter of time until they took Vancouver down. From here on out it will be Showdown mode and choosing a captain for your fantasy team. Here’s who we have for you.
The free pick today is more of a gut feeling than anything. We have been following Oskar Lindblom’s ($4,600 DK, $6,000 FD) cancer recovery story and are absolutely floored that he is getting to play so soon. He logged 17 minutes of play time which says a lot about where his conditioning is at. Before his diagnosis he had 11 goals in 30 games. We are hoping he will pick up right where he left off. #OskarStrong
Captain DFS Pick For 9/5/20
Anders Lee ($9,000 DK, $15,500 FD) has looked like a man possessed out on the ice. As the captain of the Islanders he puts everything on his back and leads the charge. Tonight will be no different when he has a final opportunity to knock the Philadelphia Flyers out of the playoffs. He had a goal in the last game and he will be parked at the front of the net ready to bang home another one if the opportunity arises.
Flex DFS Picks For 9/5/20
Mat Barzal ($9,800 DK, $13,500 FD) proved us wrong the other day when he came back from a stick to the face and put up a goal and an assist in game six. This game may be a pivotal one for his future if he can set himself up to be the superstar he wants to be. The Islanders top line is going to come out hard and he will be the first one into the offensive zone most shifts. Expect a lot of shots from this one.
Back to the Flyers’s top line it seems as though Sean Couturier is still out. That means Scott Laughton ($8,400 DK, $7,500FD) is taking his place. We have really liked the progress we have seen from him and so have his coaches. It says a lot that a guy who normally sits on the third line wing is the guy they want to fill their top spot. He will use this chance to secure a better roster spot next season. Look for him to follow up on the goal he scored last game.
In our last article we went out and grabbed Kevin Hayes ($8,400 DK, $10,500 FD) and we were rewarded for it. He is on a three game point streak and last game he got a goal and an assist. One of the Flyer’s best players this series we are holding and continuing with him. It will be interesting to see how James van Riemsdyk plays on his wing now that he got shuffled with Couturier being out. He needs a shakeup himself and Hayes may be the guy that sets him straight.
While we wait to see if van Riemsdyk settles in we have Hayes’ other winger that we want to grab. Travis Konecny ($7,000 DK, $9,000 FD) has been a little goal shy in these playoffs but he has picked up a few assists in the last couple games. We like where he is trending and are thinking that he is ready to explode for a goal or two. If you watched him during the regular season you know the kid is a sniper. He has just been too quiet.
Avoid DFS Picks For 9/5/20
Rather than just avoid goalies we would like to offer some advice on a bold strategy you could employ. We put Lee as our captain just to balance our risk. If you have a higher tolerance and are feeling one goalie over another right now then choose Hart or Varlamov and set them as your captain. You may notice that we left you a little wiggle room on the budget today to accommodate that. These are two fantastic goalies so it is a high risk, high reward proposition but it is there for you to take.
Roll the dice and get ready for one more team to be eliminated. After tonight we will be down to four teams and everything kicks up a notch. We hope you like spice because this is going to be a hot one.
