DFS NHL Fantasy Hockey Picks For 9/3/20

Derrick Brassard

We have two game sixes for you today after two great victories kept the teams on the verge of elimination alive. The Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks will look to push for seventh games in what will certainly be hotly contested matchups. We have a couple of storylines that we are paying attention to that are influencing our picks today. Stay tuned to find out what they are.

Mat Barzal took a stick to the face in the last game and had to leave early. His playing time is in doubt with Barry Trotz calling it a game time decision. We are not convinced that he is playing and so we are going with our backup strategies. Someone who would benefit from this is Derrick Brassard ($3,000 DK, $4,200 FD). He was already on our radar after scoring a goal last game and now he has the chance to shift to center if their coach decides to shift Nelson or Pageau up a line. There is a lot of opportunity for him so we see a lot of value to be had.

Goalie DFS Pick For 9/3/20

One of the other key injuries that we are taking notes on is that of Jacob Markstrom. He is day-to-day with a groin injury and Thatcher Demko ($7,600 DK, $7,500 FD) came in with a heroic effort to help the Canuck’s dreams alive. Demko stopped 42 of 43 shots for a ton of fantasy points. He remains the cheapest option and we are going to ride that hot hand. He will be in a contract year next season and is going to do everything he can to get paid. Let him help you get paid too.

Center DFS Picks For 9/3/20

We may have hinted at the big prize in our free pick of the day but let us be really clear that Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($5,000 DK, $4,800 FD) stands to reap all the rewards if he gets top line time tonight. It is more likely that Trotz keeps Nelson on the second line with Beauvillier and puts the player the Islanders spent their 2020 first round pick on acquiring at the top of the chart. He has already been playing well and we can only imagine what will happen if he gets Lee and Eberle on his wings.

With the uncertainty around some players status tonight we still want to give you some options and a little more stability. Don’t forget about Kevin Hayes ($5,300 DK, $5,500 FD) who was working hard last game. He had some high danger shots and while didn’t score a goal he did pick up an assist. If Couturier is hurt he won’t move up to the top line but will see more minutes. On his own he is worth the price and he has looked hungry out there. Cash in on his value now.

Winger DFS Picks For 9/3/20

We are trying to get a good spread across all four teams today as we do not see any obvious winners. All of our wingers today are from the Golden Knights. Mark Stone ($6,800 DK, $7,800 FD) has shown that he is a leader on and off the ice and will continue to eat up the big minutes and show the young kids what it takes to be clutch in the playoffs.

Alex Tuch ($4,900 DK, $4,600 FD) and Reilly Smith ($5,500 DK, $4,900 FD) round out the entire right side for Vegas for us today. Smith had some choice words on the mentality he will be bringing to this matchup and while we won’t be repeating them here let’s say that it is a win big focus. He will not be letting off the gas and we expect Tuch will be right behind him trying to earn his keep.

Defense DFS Picks For 9/3/20

There are a few guys who it is nearly impossible for us not to pay for when they are suiting up. Shea Theodore ($6,700 DK, $6,700 FD) is one of them. He scores more than most forwards with ten points in his last seven games. There is no need to say more here. Just take him and watch him light the lamp.

We do have some more stock in the Flyers here on the blueline. Ivan Provorov ($5,200 DK, $5,700 FD) is a young gun who has been getting a lot of great experience and building his game very well in these condensed playoffs. He has scored in the last two games and will look to continue that streak tonight.

Avoid DFS Picks For 9/3/20

Just as precaution and depending on when you get to set your lineup we are benching both Barzal and Couturier today. We hope they are alright and that we see them back again soon but just in case we are going to hold off for this contest.

Have a fantastic day and get your popcorn ready as there are going to be some wild plays tonight.
