DFS NHL Fantasy Hockey Picks For 9/14/20

Alec Martinez in the conference finals
LAS VEGAS, NV - MARCH 01: Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez (23) in action during the second period of a regular season game against the Los Angeles Kings Sunday, March 1, 2020, in Las Vegas. (Marc Sanchez/Icon Sportswire)

It is do or die time for the Vegas Golden Knights. They may or may not have Mark Stone and they will need to dig deep to earn themselves another game. They are going to need to throw everything they have at the Stars or they are going to exit the bubble. They have come close and we think this one might end up going to overtime. Keep reading to see who we think is going to come out on top.

Our free pick today is a guy on the Knights who is a stalwart defender who is going to light up the peripheral categories. In the last game he laid down four blocks, had a couple shots on goal and even scored the only Vegas goal. Alec Martinez ($6,200 DK, $7,500 FD) will be seeing a ton of ice time and is going to be one of the Knights best hopes for keeping their dreams alive.

Behind the paywall we are looking at a couple other defensemen and they are probably not the ones you would expect. There are a couple factors here that highlight some depth on the blue line and that is going to save you some money and boost your point spread. Come on in and have a look.

Captain DFS Pick For 9/14/20

There are few times that we believe we can predict that a player will score bonus categories for you but we feel pretty strongly that Max Pacioretty ($15,000 DK, $14,000 FD) is going to be putting up five shots on goal. Every opportunity that he can threaten the Stars goaltending and potentially get his team ahead he will take it. He is a fierce competitor and absent Mark Stone is going to be the spiritual leader for the team.

Flex DFS Picks For 9/14/20

If Mark Stone is in fact out then we really like the value proposition that Reilly Smith ($7,200 DK, $8,500 FD) brings to the table. He can move up to the top line or at least will see more power play minutes. He is another player who will be making a bee line for the net and has some good setup linemates in Stastny and Marchessault.

This one should be another tight battle and so there are a couple Stars we like to stash. Joe Pavelski ($7,800 DK, $9,500 FD) has continued to produce at a high level and at not a terribly high price. His net front presence causes chaos for other teams. He is also not there just to screen the goalie because he is very good at tipping the puck at the last second to score. He is a dangerous player and one to watch out for.

John Klingberg ($6,800 DK, $9,000) continues to make out list even though he has not been lighting the lamp as much as we may like. For the price though we still like what he brings to the table. He managed an assist in the last game and is still seeing good power play time. If you are on FanDuel take your pick between him and our last player of the day.

Our last sneaky good pick is Nate Schmidt ($7,000 DK, $8,000 FD). He is like Alex Martinez in that he is going to be adding a ton of peripherals and getting in the way of every shot possible. We might even take him over Klingberg in this matchup as there are lor juicy points to be had here. His average fantasy points per game are actually pretty close to Miro Heiskanen but at a nice savings. Let him do the dirty work to get your team to the top.

Avoid DFS Picks For 9/14/20

You might think we would go with Mark Stone here but we aren’t counting him out yet. Instead we are putting the pause on Tyler Seguin. Benn has been outstanding and it isn’t like he looks bad out there he is just not scoring. We are not sure what is up but we are holding off for now.

Have a great Monday and an awesome rest of your week.
