There was a light hiccup in games as the NHL paused to reflect on the violent shootings in America and the issues we face as an entire world. In a sport that has not been known for diversity the players and league have been making strong statements about the need to end racism. If we want to move forward and live better as a whole we need to help those out who have been systematically oppressed and marginalized. The more we strive for equality for the vulnerable the more everyone’s situation improves. Black Lives Matter.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. We have a deep sleeper for you today in a guy that has moved his way up to the Flyers second line. He is getting time with Kevin Hayes and Travis Konecny and while he has been pretty quiet we have a feeling he is about to burst out. Joel Farabee ($3,800 DK, $3,900 FD) is only twenty years old and scored 26 points in 62 games this season. He was a first round pick in 2018 and is cutting his teeth with the best right now. Keep an eye on him.
Goalie DFS Pick For 8/30/20
The way these playoffs have been going is just a punch for punch battle. We expect the Flyers to punch back hard tonight. Carter Hart ($7,900 DK, $8,200 FD) will shake off last game’s loss and rally to be the brick wall he has been throughout these playoffs. For someone so young he is very mature and will bounce back well.
Center DFS Picks For 8/30/20
It goes without saying that we put Nathan MacKinnon ($8,500 DK, $8,800 FD) at our top centre spot. We don’t even need to check his price as it is maxed out. He has 13 points in his past five games putting him at over two points per game. It’s a no brainer. Keep rolling him.
Let’s get back to the Flyers pulling all the punches. Kevin Hayes ($5,000 DK, $5,300 FD) has been a focal point for Philly’s offense and will stack well with our sleeper pick of Farabee. We would love to get Konecny in on this but unfortunately we do not have unlimited budgets. Hayes will be trying to pick up where the first line has been leaving off.
Winger DFS Picks For 8/30/20
There has to be a breaking point for the Flyers top line and so we are still comfortable putting Claude Giroux ($5,500 DK, $6,900 FD) out there. He has taken 20 shots in his last ten games and none have gone in. That is just unsustainable in our eyes. His shooting percentage this season was at a solid 10%. That means he should have scored at least two goals by now. Especially on DraftKings he has a ton of value at his price.
One of our medium sized investments over the past couple weeks has paid some very nice dividends. Denis Gurianov ($4,400 DK, $5,200 FD) is on fire right now and that is most evident in his playing time last game. He finally moved from 12-13 minutes a game to 16 on Wednesday. He was rewarded with a goal and is clearly getting the recognition from his coaches that he deserves. His price is slowly catching up so get in early before the market corrects for this undervaluation.
Along the same lines as Gurianov we have another player whose price has not yet matched his output. If you don’t know about Alex Tuch ($4,200 DK, $4,500 FD) yet it is time to wake up. He has scored a goal in his past four games. He is in the top of the league for goals scored in this league and is just a straight steal for your board.
Defenseman DFS Picks For 8/30/20
If anyone is going to do some damage to the Flyers from the Islanders defensive corp it will be Ryan Pulock ($5,200 DK, $4,800 FD). Getting top power play time and being fully trusted by the coaching staff he will look to hold back the onslaught. He is a well rounded player and is getting a ton of amazing playoff experience that is going to translate to increased production now and into next season.
A lot of people tend to forget about aging star Alexander Edler ($5,300 DK, $4,500 FD) but we haven’t. He does it all. He shoots, he blocks and he scores. It is amazing to see him produce as much as he does as his age and his veteran leadership is going to be invaluable for growing rookie Quinn Hughes.
Avoid DFS Picks For 8/30/20
If we are going full Philly then it should be no surprise that we are passing on Semyon Varlamov today. He is only two games removed from being chased from the net and getting buyers negative points. He bounced back nicely but there has not been a lot of rest and so we are going with the younger fresher Hart for this one. We are not looking forward to picking between them for game five.
We hope you have been having a great weekend and will finish it out in style. Have a great Sunday folks.
