Yesterday saw both teams that were down come back to even their respective series. Vancouver showed they still have the firepower and won’t be bullied. Tampa Bay’s depth came through to help defeat the Bruins. Will Tampa have enough in the tank to win in a back-to-back with all the overtime hockey they have played? Will Boston look to unproven Dan Vladar to make his NHL debut? Keep reading to hear our hot takes on who is going to help make your DFS team shine.
If you are new here please enjoy our free pick of the day. We are always looking for those low cost high impact guys and are happy to share an exciting one with you today. J.G. Pageau ($4,600 DK, $4,800 FD) delivered big to widen the lead over the Flyers with the help of Leo Komarov. On other teams he would be second or maybe even a first line center. That he is on the Islanders third line is scary for other teams. He should stay pretty fresh with the slightly reduced minutes and we see him continuing to be a driving force.
Goalie DFS Pick For 8/26/20
Goalies get harder and harder to predict as the teams that make it further in the playoffs tend to score pretty well. We are going for a little cost savings here for someone who still has a slightly higher chance of performing well. Semyon Varlamov ($7,400 DK, $8,400 FD) is a solid pick in DraftKings where he is one of the cheapest starting goalies and that is after back to back shutouts.
If you are on FanDuel then consider Anton Khudobin ($7,300 DK, $7,500 FD). The net is still his while Ben Bishop works his way back to healthy. It is no easy task to stare down Colorado’s offense but Khudobin has managed it well. The Stars have been doing a good job of managing the risk and giving Anton goal support.
Center DFS Picks For 8/26/20
You already know who owns this spot. Even in defeat Nathan MacKinnon ($8,500 DK, $8,800 FD) put up eight shots, scored a goal, and got an assist. There is no need to sing his praises. Just pick him.
We are going back to a successful stack from a few days ago with our second center and one of our wings. Joe Pavelski ($4,900 DK, $5,700) has looked incredible out on the ice. If takeaways were points we would be rich. He is a smart player who has a great deal of tools at his disposal to shift the game in the Stars favor.
Winger DFS Picks For 8/26/20
One of the tools at Pavelski’s disposal is Denis Gurianov ($4,400 DK, $5,100 FD). They may not have the strongest left wing support but the two of them together can still tilt the ice. Gurianov was the Stars leading goal scorer in the regular season and he did it only playing 12 minutes a game. If you are doing any dynasty drafts in the near future lock this kid up as he will be vying for the Rocket Richard trophy in the next couple years.
For having scored two goals yesterday and eleven points over the past seven games it is a surprise to see Brad Marchand ($6,600 DK, $7,800) valued as he is. He punched in two goals with gusto last night and has been a top tier pest against the Lightning. Relentless forechecking and stealthy net front presence give Marchand all the value we need to succeed.
Defenseman DFS Picks For 8/26/20
It looks like our budget is healthy today so we are going to treat ourselves with the top two young defenseman. Cale Makar ($6,000 DK, $5,500 FD) is a steal over on FanDuel and is still a solid value in DraftKings. He got an assist in the last game against the Stars and is quietly padding his stats. Keep rolling with him and MacKinnon as their power play game is lethal.
Miro Heiskanen ($5,700 DK, $5,800 FD) was also a quiet force in a loud Stars game. They scored five goals and he only got one assist but he is consistent and also building a strong playoff resume. He will get you a couple blocked shots and always has the opportunity to explode for a multi-point game.
Avoid DFS Picks For 8/26/20
Philadelphia has to wake up one of these games. But when they do it is still likely to be more on the offensive side of things first. The Islanders are showing they can score from all angles and so we are putting Carter Hart on the back burner for now.
Keep those picks rolling and enjoy the three games today. We love having so many games to watch and keep track of and you probably do too.
