The second round is well underway with the Golden Knights skewering the Canucks and the Bruins swiping the first game from the Lightning. The only series that has not started yet is the Islanders versus the Flyers. We are looking forward to a great matchup that features stellar goaltending and an array of sharpshooters. Expect it to get ugly quickly as the teams are not particularly fond of each other.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been changing up lines quite a bit so it is hard to nail down exactly who is going to do well here but we do have a free pick today for a guy that just puts in work and has been a great set up man. Scott Laughton ($4,200 DK, $3,500 FD) has been instrumental in several of the Flyers big scores and has been flying under the radar. He doesn’t need top line minutes to contribute so save a little and see what he can do for you.

Goalie DFS Pick For 8/24/20

The Islanders are looking confident at all ends of the ice and a lot of that stems from their goaltender Semyon Varlamov ($7,800 DK, $8,300 FD). He sent the Capitals home having scored zero goals in an elimination game. Shutting that team out is a heck of an accomplishment and we would like to see what he does against Philly tonight.

Center DFS Picks For 8/24/20
Is Nathan MacKinnon ($8,500 DK, $8,800 FD) a cheat code? The DraftKings and FanDuel algorithms won’t let his cost go over the maximum which means he is actually still a steal here. We know it is not exactly a hot take but we have to pick him. He stands alone when it comes to talent that is left in the playoffs.

To offset MacKinnon’s steep price we like J.G. Pageau ($4,700 DK, $4,600 FD). He is the Islanders third line center but they traded a first round pick and more to Ottawa to get him. He is a versatile player that does well in any situation. He kills penalties with the best of them having scored six short handed points in the regular season. When he gets going he is hard to stop.

Winger DFS Picks For 8/24/20

We have a pool of wingers for you today because their prices vary wildly from site to site. Mix and match to your desire and budget. First up is Jamie Benn ($5,700 DK, $7,700 FD). The Stars first line has woken up and woken up big. Benn scored one of the grittiest goals we have seen in awhile coming in hard for a pass from Tyler Seguin and he ended up in the net not long after the puck. They are going to try to keep up the pace and attempt to withstand the Avalanche’s insane pressure.

Alexander Radulov ($5,500 DK, $5,600 FD) has found his game again and the power winger looks happy to have gotten the monkey off his back. The biggest gain for the Stars is Seguin moving back to center and solidifying a top line that has all the skills.

Anthony Beauvillier ($4,800 DK, $6,200 FD) continues to dominate as a youngster and we do not think his cost matches his talent. Especially in DraftKings he holds a lot of value. We continue to enjoy watching his game develop behind Anders Lee. He is right where he needs to be to succeed and that is on our fantasy roster.

Defenseman DFS Picks For 8/24/20

We have another pool for you with our blueliner picks today. Our first is one guy we considered as our free sleeper pick but decided he was too good for that. Ryan Graves ($4,600 DK, $3,800 FD) doesn’t get the acclaim that Cale Makar does but he is making his presence known. At 25 years young and 6’4” huge he lays massive hits on his opponents and uses that to generate offensive chances.

That is not to say we aren’t still high on Makar($6,000 DK $5,400 FD) or even Miro Heiskanen ($5,700 DK, $5,600 FD). Both guys have continued to tear up competition and provide lots of offensive support. Take which guy you like more feel great about it.

Avoid DFS Picks For 8/24/20

James van Riemsdyk has been moved down to the fourth line for the Flyers and we have moved him to our bench as well. We hope he picks it back up and gets back to second or third line duty but we will be putting a pause on spending on him for now.

Pick with confidence and watch with joy as we continue deeper into the second round.
