Definitely keep an eye out for this week’s wide receivers who are missing practices due to lingering injuries. There are some great values in their backups if they don’t play. So, check out this week’s high-end picks, best values, and some buyer beware picks at wide receiver.
Davante Adams – ($9,000 DK, $8,500 FD) – Adams is back as the most expensive receiver on DraftKings. Tyreek Hill is top on the FanDuel. It doesn’t matter because you want Adams in both games. He’s worth paying up for this week, as he gets to travel to Chicago. The Bears rank as the 26th worst team in giving up fantasy points to wide receivers. Adams demolishes bad defenses on the road by averaging 36.90 fantasy points per game and is 100 percent consistent. Show him the money!
Tyreek Hill – BEWARE – ($8,500 DK, $8,700 FD) – Tyreek really hasn’t been consistent this year. He’s only 60 percent consistent through Week 5. This week is one of the most expensive receivers and he has a troublesome quad injury. He hasn’t practiced at all this week. With the Chiefs playing the Washington Football Team, why would they risk Hill getting hurt even worse? I know this is a great matchup for him, but I wouldn’t risk it. Check out my Best Value Play for the correct Chiefs player to play.

Best Value – WR – Mecole Hardman – ($4,200 DK, $5,500 FD) – The real value is right here for the Chiefs game. Hardman will be the main target (outside of Kelce, of course) for Patrick Mahomes this week versus Washington. He’s a steal at only $4,200 on DraftKings. Washington ranks 30th in giving up fantasy points to wide receivers. If Tyreek doesn’t play, this is your value play of the week.
Best Mid-Value – WR – Brandin Cooks – ($5,800 DK, $6,500 FD) – Cooks had a down week last year as he played against the Patriots and they always focus on taking out the best player of the team. However, this week, Cooks plays at home versus the Colts. The Colts have an average defense versus receivers and that’s okay because Cooks averages 17.87 fantasy points per game and is 100 percent consistent in that game scenario. He won’t be highly utilized from an ownership standpoint either. Make sure you get him in.
Marquise Brown – BEWARE – ($5,900 DK, $7,000 FD) – Brown has been having a mini-breakout so far this year. This is why he’s over $7k on FanDuel. However, this week, he gets to play the Chargers at home and they are ranked second in giving up the fewest points to receivers. Their pass rush is brutal and will have Lamar Jackson running for his life and not allowing him to look downfield for Brown. Brown historically has averaged only 6.16 fantasy points per game when playing at home versus a good defense. I’ll pass on him this week.
