We have nine games today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres, taking on Max Muncy and Los Angeles Dodgers in Los Angeles. The highest implied run totals today sit with the Boston Red Sox (6.0), Los Angeles Dodgers (5.6), and San Francisco Giants (5.1).

The weather looks good for all of the games today, so we shouldn’t see any weather-related delays or postponements.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 9/30/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherRich Hill $7,000
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First BaseMax Muncy $5,400
 Second Base
 Third BaseManny Machado $5,000
 Short StopBo Bichette $5,600
 Outfield
 OutfieldHunter Renfroe $4,900
 Outfield

Rich Hill-  P  ($8,700) – Normally the risk with Hill is that he likely won’t go much more than five innings. However, this time of year we could see most of the pitchers tonight go five or less. Hill hasn’t given up more than three runs in his last ten starts, and he strikes out 22 percent of the batters he faces so Hill should have a pretty good night.

Max Muncy– 1B  ($5,400) – Muncy had two hits and a home run last night. With the Padres going to a starter with an ERA over six today, I look for Muncy to have a productive day.

Manny Machado–3B ($5,000) – Machado along with the Padres offense appears to of awakened from their second-half slumber. Machado has two home runs in his last four games, and he won’t be facing one of the Dodgers aces tonight either.

Bo Bichette – SS  ($5,600) – Bichette has gotten hot over the last few games. He has three straight multi-hit games, and in those games, she has two doubles, two home runs, and a stolen base. I look for him to continue to hit well tonight in an important game versus the Yankees.

Hunter Renfroe- OF ($4,900) – Renfroe has hit home runs in back-to-back games and he will face a left-handed pitcher today, which he has hit much better against this year. Look for Renfroe to stay hot and for the Red Sox to score lots of runs today.

The Pitchers

Nick Pivetta ($7,000) Pivetta hasn’t given up more than three runs in each of his last three starts for the Red Sox. They enter the game as heavy favorites, and likely will not want to tax their bullpen if they don’t need to, so look for Pivetta to go long enough into the game, and provide a good strikeout total today as well.

Ian Anderson ($8,400) – In Anderson’s last three games he has really piled up the strikeouts, with 23 in those three games. He likely will face a Phillies lineup that could start to rest their best players as they are now out of the playoff race.

Lance McCullers Jr. ($9,600) Recently McCullers has been very consistent. He has gone at least six innings in each of his last four games while giving up three runs or less in each of those games.

The Value Players

Victor Caratini – C ($2,600) – Caratini has hits in five straight starts for the Padres. The extra-base hits aren’t always there, but at his price, you can be happy with just getting on base a couple of times.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. –OF ($3,900) – Gurriel hasn’t hit well coming back from his hand injury, but he is a discounted part of the Blue Jays lineup, and he still has the potential to provide a big return.

Trent Grisham – OF  ($3,800) Grisham has hits in three of his last four games. In those games, he has had two doubles and a couple of steals as well. Grisham should get lots of at-bats today, which can turn into lots of value.

The Stacks

San Diego Padres – We discussed Caratini, Machado, and Grisham. Those three players won’t break the bank, and they should offer you a nice low-owned stack as all of the eyes will be on the Dodgers.

Toronto Blue Jays – With Bichette and Gurriel we have a good start. I would look to add Teoscar Hernandez if you have the budget, but if you need to save some salary you can resort to using Corey Dickerson.

Boston Red Sox – We talked about Renfroe, and you can look at adding José Iglesias who has hit lefties really well this month, and Bobby Dalbec who is a higher power option who also has a 1.227 SLG this month against lefties.
