Luis Robert
CHICAGO, IL - AUGUST 29: Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert (88) hits to the infield during the MLB game between the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals on August 29, 2020 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Zach Bolinger/Icon Sportswire)

We have twelve games today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Nolan Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals, taking on Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets in New York. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the New York Yankees (6.3), Philadelphia Phillies (5.7), and the Houston Astros (5.7).

There is a risk of rain over 25 percent in Kansas City, for the game between the Royals and the Athletics, otherwise, the weather looks good across the board today, with less than a 10 percent chance of rain for the rest of the games today.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 9/14/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherLucas Giolito $10,200
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First BaseMatt Olson $5,200
 Second Base
 Third BaseAlex Bregman $4,200
 Short Stop
 OutfieldMitch Haniger $4,700
 Outfield
 OutfieldLuis Robert $4,400

Lucas Giolito – P ($10,200) – Giolito won’t come cheap, but he has a great matchup going up against the Angels today at home. Giolito hasn’t given up more than two innings in any of his last five starts, and the Angels have a team batting average of just 0.217 over the last two weeks, and a team slugging percentage of 0.351, which is fourth-worst in MLB in that two-week time frame.

Matt Olson – 1B  ($5,200) – In Olson’s last three games he has a four-hit game, and he has two games where he has hit a home run. He is has been consistently good for the Athletics this year, and with is a good matchup today going up against the Royals.

Alex Bregman – 3B ($4,200) – Bregman looks to of gotten the rust off after missing time on the IL. He has hits in twelve of his last thirteen games, and in his last four games, he has two multi-hit games, a double and a home run.

Mitch Haniger –OF  ($4,700) – Make it three straight games for Haniger where he has hit home runs. Last night, he crushed Boston pitching with three other hits to go along with his home run.

Luis Robert – OF ($4,400) Robert has hits in seven of his last eight games and is only one game removed from a three-double game. He is among the most dangerous young hitters in baseball, and with him, at the top of the White Sox lineup, he will get lots of opportunities.

The Pitchers

Anthony DeSclafani ($8,500 DK) DeSclafani hasn’t been great recently, but with him facing the struggling Padres today, who are the owners of an MLB worst 0.330 SLG over the last two weeks, DeSclafani will have a chance to bounce back.

Zack Greinke ($8,700) – Greinke will make his first start in two weeks tonight, and he will get a soft matchup going up against the woeful offence of the Rangers. If he can go five innings he has a great chance of getting the win, and he should be worth his value if he can get that far into the game as well.

Jesús Luzardo ($6,300 DK) I really like this play in GPP. Luzardo is coming off a nice start against the Mets, and the Nationals are far from world-beaters so you could get really nice value again today from Luzardo.

The Value Players

Gleybar Torres – SS  ($3,700) – With the Yankees having such a high expected run total, it’s not a bad idea to get part of their lineup, especially when you can do it at a discount. Torres has hits in three of his last four games including a double and a home run, he is also facing a left-handed pitcher, which he has hit better all year as well.

Tommy La Stella- 2B ($2,900) – We are going back to La Stella again today. He has a home run in each of his last two starts, and he leads off for the Giants. You really don’t need much at his price to hit value, and he is in a great place to do that and more.

Anthony Santander- OF ($3,000) – Santander is back on a hot streak yet again. The matchup going against Gerrit Cole isn’t ideal, but he has three home runs and a double in his last four games, so at his price, he is worth the risk.

The Stacks

New York Yankees – We discussed Torres, and you can add Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to him for a stack that has great upside going against the awful pitching of the Orioles.

Toronto Blue Jays – It’s hard to bet against the Blue Jays right now with the number of runs they are scoring right now. You can look to stack their outfielders today with Teoscar, Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, and Randal Grichuk and avoid the big prices of their stars.

Philadelphia Phillies – When you stack the Phillies right now you almost need to start with Bryce Harper, then you can add Jean Segura and J.T. Realmuto who has started to hit for them as well.
