Yordan Alvarez

We have eleven games today with the first pitch at 12:10 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels, taking on Yordan Alvarez and the Houston Astros in Houston. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Toronto Blue Jays (6.4), Houston Astros (5.7), and the Atlanta Braves (5.5).

The weather looks good across the board today, with less than a 10 percent chance of rain for all games today.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 9/12/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherLogan Webb $9,600
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First Base
 Second BaseJonathan India $4,200
 Third BaseEvan Longoria $4,000
 Short StopBo Bichette $5,200
 Outfield
 OutfieldYordan Alvarez $5,200
 Outfield

Logan Webb – P ($9,600) – Webb has been very consistent for the Giants this year. He has given up less than three runs per game in fourteen of his last fifteen starts while averaging seven strikeouts per game in his last four starts.

Jonathan India – 2B  ($4,200) – India has had multi-hit games in three of his last four games with two home runs and two doubles in those four games. With the Reds’ ability to score runs in bunches and India at the top of the lineup he is in a great position to rack up points.

Evan Longoria –3B  ($4,000) – Over the last three games Longoria has seemingly found the fountain of youth. He has four hits in those games with two doubles and a home run. With a nice matchup against the Cubs today, we should see Longoria stay productive today.

Bo Bichette – SS ($5,200) – Over the last four games Bichette has been on fire. He has eight hits in those four games with two home runs and a steal. With the Blue Jays expected to score lots of runs today, I expect Bichette to be right there in the middle of the action for Toronto.

Yordan Alvarez – OF ($5,200) Coming into today Alvarez has hit doubles in back-to-back games, and with the Astros holding a high expected run total today, he is in a great position to return or exceed his value today.

The Pitchers

Max Fried ($8,000 DK) We have stuck with the Braves all weekend, and it has paid off each day and I expect today to be no different. The Marlins have the lowest team SLG in MLB over the last two weeks, and Fried has given up more than two runs in a start just once in his last eight starts.

Luis Patiño ($7,500) – As a GPP play, there is a lot to like about Patiño. He has gone at least five innings in two of his last three starts, he will be pitching in a pitcher’s park in Detroit today, and the Rays are the favorite to get the win.

Sonny Gray ($9,100 DK) Gray hasn’t given up more than three runs in any of his last six starts, and we have seen his strikeout totals spike as high as eight. If he can avoid giving up home runs today, he should easily be worth his cost.

The Value Players

Brandon Belt – 1B  ($3,200) – Belt now has four straight multi-hit games, with three doubles and three home runs in his last five games, and he is barely over 3k.

Austin Hays- OF ($3,100) – Hays this season has established that he crushes left-handed pitching. His batting average is nearly 100 points higher when facing them(0.302 vs LHP, 0.218 vs RHP). On top of that, he has at least a hit in 17 of his last 18 games and two home runs in his last two games.

Corey Dickerson- OF ($3,300) – When looking for value plays, Dickerson fits what you want to find. He will be in a hitters park in Baltimore, facing an average starting pitcher at best, and he could see a good spot in the lineup.

The Stacks

San Francisco Giants – We discussed Longoria and Belt, and you can add either Tommy La Stella or LaMonte Wade Jr, and have a solid stack today going up against a lacklustre Cubs team.

Toronto Blue Jays – The Blue Jays will be heavily used today. We discussed Bichette and Dickerson, but you can add Teoscar Hernandez to that group and you should be in a good place today.

Baltimore Orioles – In GPP’s I would not hesitate to use an Orioles stack. As a team, they aren’t good, but they are one of the best teams in the league at hitting lefties. You can use Hays, Cedric Mullins, and Ryan Mountcastle and still have lots of budget to spare.
