Joey Votto

We have eight games today with the first pitch at 7:10 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Javier Baez and the New York Mets, taking on Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees in New York. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Chicago White Sox (5.5), Houston Astros (5.3), and the Seattle Mariners (4.9).

The weather looks good across the board today, with less than a 10 percent chance of rain for all games today.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 9/11/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherCharlie Morton $8,000

 Third BaseMike Moustakas $4,400

 Outfield

Charlie Morton – P ($8,000) – This is a great matchup for Morton. He has only given up more than two runs once in his last seven starts, and with him facing the Marlins today who are striking out 26 percent of the time, we should see another good outing from Morton.

Joey Votto – 1B  ($4,200) – In Votto’s last three games he has two home runs and a double. We saw earlier in the season what Votto can do when he gets hot, so don’t be afraid to use him today.

Javier Báez –2B  ($4,900) – Báez stayed hot yesterday with a three-hit game that included a double. In his last two games, he has five hits, two doubles and two steals, and he will be facing a Yankees pitching group that has a lot of holes right now.

Mike Moustakas – 3B ($4,400) – While we haven’t seen a lot from Moustakas recently, he does have hits in three of his last four starts, and he will be facing a Cardinals starter who has an ERA over 5.

Kyle Tucker – OF ($5,300) Tucker is on a nice four-game hits streak, with three of those games being multi-hit games. In that stretch of four games, he has produced three doubles and a triple.

The Pitchers

Taijuan Walker ($7,500 DK) As a GPP play, Walker is interesting. In two of his last four starts, he has given up two runs or less, and add to that he will be facing a Yankee’s team that has the second-worst slugging percentage in baseball over the last two weeks.

Walker Buehler ($9,400) – We finally saw a bad outing from Buehler in his last time out. That was the first time he had gone less than 5 innings the entire season. He will face a Padres team today who he held scoreless a few weeks ago, so I would expect another good start from him today.

Luis Castillo ($9,000 DK) Castillo has one of the highest upsides today. He has given up three runs or less in each of his last five starts while striking out seven batters on average in each of those games.

The Value Players

Jo Adell – OF  ($3,200) – Adell now has a seven-game hit streak, and in the five most recent games he has three home runs and a triple. There isn’t much Adell can’t do, and he comes at a very reasonable price.

James McCann- C ($3,300) – Coming into today McCann has hits in three of his last four games which includes a double yesterday. With the Mets taking on the Yankee’s and their struggling pitching staff, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see McCann keep hitting today.

Eloy Jimenez- OF ($3,800) – We have seen Jimenez’s price drop as he has gone into a bit of a power slump. That said he does have hits in each of his last three games, and he will face a Boston starter who is making their MLB debut today, so this could be the day that Eloy’s power returns.

The Stacks

Chicago White Sox – We talked about the discount on Jimenez, and I would look to add Jose Abreu and Cesar Hernandez to him to make a nice stack going up against a rookie starter today.

New York Mets – The Mets likely won’t get much love today, which makes them a prime GPP candidate. We discussed Baez, and McCann, and you can add Michael Conforto who has started to hit to them for a nice low-priced stack.

Seattle Mariners – The Mariners are a team I would target in GPP’s today. J.P. Crawford has been hitting well, as has Tom Murphy, and you can add either Ty France or Abraham Toro to them to round out the stack.
