DFS MLB Baseball Picks for September 2, 2021

Trevor Story

We have five games today with the first pitch at 7:10 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Freddie Freeman and the Atlanta Braves, taking Trevor Story and Colorado Rockies in Colorado. The highest implied run totals today sit with the Atlanta Braves (7.0), Colorado Rockies (5.6), and New York Mets (4.5).

The weather looks good for all of the games today, so we shouldn’t see any weather-related delays or postponements.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 9/02/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherCarlos Carrasco $8,000
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First Base
 Second BaseJavier Báez $4,400
 Third BaseRyan McMahon $4,600
 Short StopTrevor Story $5,500
 Outfield
 OutfieldIan Happ $4,400
 Outfield

Carlos Carrasco-  P  ($8,000) – Carrasco is a nice buy today. He has gone at least five innings in his last two starts, while given up three runs or less in each. He gets his fair share of strikeouts and will face a struggling Marlins offense today.

Javier Báez– 2B  ($4,400) – Báez has hits in five of his last six games with two home runs in his last four games. The Mets haven’t been scoring a lot of runs, but they are among the higher teams for expected runs scored tonight.

Ryan McMahon–3B ($4,600) – With Colorado at home today, we will want to get in as many Rockies as possible, especially on a short slate. McMahon has hits in back-to-back games and he has hit for a batting average near 0.300 at home this season.

Trevor Story – SS  ($5,500) – In his last four games Story has five hits, a double and two home runs. Whenever the Rockies are at home, Story is worth a look if you can find the budget to fit him into your lineup.

Ian Happ- OF ($4,400) – You’re going to get Happ at a reasonable price today. He has three home runs in his last six games to go along with two steals. With the Cubs facing the Pirates at home, we could see another big night from Happ.

The Pitchers

Triston McKenzie ($8,000) McKenzie has been fantastic over his last two starts. He has given up just three hits and one run between the two starts while striking out 19 batters.

Zach Thompson ($7,500) – With a lack of pitching options we are left looking at a pitcher like Thompson. He has gone at least five innings in each of his last three starts and has given up three runs or less in each of those starts. He only strikes out 20 percent of the batters he faces which significantly caps his upside, but if you can get 6 innings and the win, he will be worth his cost.

The Value Players

Christian Vázquez – C ($3,000) – In his last four games Vázquez has six hits with a double and a home run. He likely won’t see a lot of ownership going up against the Rays, but at his price, he can hit value without too much trouble, and give you a low ownership boost.

Frank Schwindel –1B ($3,300) – Schwindel has hit a home run in three straight games, and with this game at home against a week pitching Pirates team, he could easily have another big game today.

Joc Pederson – OF  ($3,900) Pederson is a player you can look to tonight on the Braves who likely won’t see high ownership. He is a power threat against right-handed pitching, and he is very familiar with Colorado from his days with the Dodgers.

The Stacks

Atlanta Braves – The Braves will be a pricey proposition, but I would be looking to take Pederson, and add Jorge Soler, and Austin Riley, to round out your stack in Colorado.

Colorado Rockies – We talked about Story and McMahon, and I would look to add C.J. Cron if you can find the budget to add him. Otherwise, you can look to someone like Connor Joe.

Chicago Cubs – You can look at stacking the previously mentioned Happ, and Schwindel, with Jason Heyward who has been hitting as of late. The Cubs won’t see a lot of ownership but they could produce for you.
