We have nine games today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Justin Turner and the Los Angeles Dodgers, taking on Corbin Burnes and Milwaukee Brewers in Los Angeles. The highest implied run totals today sit with the Chicago White Sox (5.7), St. Louis Cardinals (5.2), and the Houston Astros (5.0).

There are three games at risk of being delayed or postponed with the Cubs at the Cardinals, White Sox, and Tigers, and Twins and Royals all have a chance of rain above 34 percent at game time.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 10/02/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherChris Flexen $8,900
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First BasePete Alonso $4,500
 Second Base
 Third BaseJustin Turner $5,000
 Short StopDansby Swanson $4,300
 Outfield
 OutfieldAJ Pollock $4,400
 Outfield

Chris Flexen-  P  ($8,900) – Flexen isn’t typically the type of pitcher we would look to, but with very few teams playing meaningful games right now, he finds himself fitting the bill. He has struck out at least six batters in two of his last three starts, and he hasn’t given up more than two runs in two of his last three starts as well.

Pete Alonso– 1B  ($4,500) – In Alonso’s last two games he has five hits, with a double and two home runs. He is among the best power hitters in the league and is more than capable of having big games as Atlanta rests many of their best players.

Justin Turner–3B ($5,000) – Turner has hits in three straight games with a home run and a double. The Dodgers will still be using their best players with them having a chance to catch the Giants, so that offers some addition stability.

Dansby Swanson – SS  ($4,300) – In Swanson’s last two starts he has five hits and doubles. He should play today as he had yesterday off, so you should get lots of at bats and at a very reasonable price.

AJ Pollock- OF ($4,400) – Pollock has three home runs in his last three games. The Dodgers will be using their best, so you might as well go and use one of their hottest hitters.

The Pitchers

Jake Odorizzi ($7,300) Coming into today, Odorizzi hasn’t given up more than two runs in any of his last six starts. The Astros should let him go as long as they can today as they won’t want to tax their bullpen too much, so expect a nice start from Odorizzi.

Julio Urías ($10,100) Today is a must-win game for the Dodgers if they hope to catch the Giants and win the West. Urias has been great all year, striking out 26 percent of the batters he has faced, and he has only given up more than two runs once in his last twelve starts.

Triston McKenzie ($9,200) In a GPP, McKenzie is a pitcher that can really pay off. When he is at his best he can give you double-digit strikeouts, and be almost unhittable. When he isn’t though he has negative value. We also don’t know how deep Cleveland will let him go in this game.

The Value Players

Willson Contreras – C ($3,600) – We will go back to Contreras today. He should get the start today after getting yesterday off, and he has hit a double in three straight games.

Dylan Carlson –OF ($3,400) – In Carlson’s last three starts he has three home runs and a double. You’re going to get him relatively cheap today, and he should be in the lineup as he had the day off yesterday.

Leury Garcia – 2B/OF  ($3,800) Garcia was a good value yesterday, and he now has hits in five straight games with three of those games being multi-hit games. He likely won’t hit you home runs, but if he can keep getting on base regularly, he should easily exceed his value.

The Stacks

Chicago White Sox – We discussed Garcia already, and with the salary you can save on him I would stack him with Tim Anderson and Jose Abreu for a White Sox stack that could put up big numbers against Detroit today.

Houston Astros – The Astros are expected to score lots of runs today against the A’s. I would look to Kyle Tucker, with Carlos Correa and Jason Castro to give you a nice stack that can help you win.

Seattle Mariners – The Mariners are in the thick of the wild card race, and with them facing the Angels today they should score lots of runs. The nice thing is their hottest hitters are all cheap also. You can stack Abraham Toro, Jarred Kelenic, and Luis Torrens for under 6K.
