We have a six-game slate with first pitches at 7:15 PM EST. We have another day without any intriguing pitching matchups so look for lots of runs to be scored. The highest implied run totals for a game with the Oakland Athlethics (4.9), San Diego Padres(4.7), and the Toronto Blue Jay(4.7).

The weather looks good across the board so all the players on this slate should be in play.

Here’s our 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 5/22/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherWalker Buehler $11,000
 Pitcher
 CatcherDanny Jansen $2,800
 First BaseAnthony Rizzo $4,500
 Second Base
 Third Base
 Short StopHa-Seong Kim $2,200
 OutfieldRamón Laureano $5,200
 Outfield

Salary Remaining          $200

Walker Buehler ($11,000)

Buehler might be the easiest choice for pitching on tonight’s slate. That means that he will be highly owned, but in cash games I would rather play the chalk than be on the wrong side of it. He has no less than seven strikeouts in his last five starts and he is coming off a seven inning outing where he gave up just one hit and no runs.

Danny Jansen ($2,800)

Catcher is a wasteland today, where all of the top players are over $4,500. That isn’t a place I want to pay up. This brings us to Jansen. He has hits in three of his last four games, and with the Blue Jays having a high implied runs total, it could work out.

Anthony Rizzo ($4,500)

Rizzo has multi-hit games in five of his last six games, the extra-base hits haven’t really been there with only three doubles in that time, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come today.

Ha-Seong Kim ($2,200)

Kim has been seeing more playing time recently, and with Buehler’s price tag we are going to need a near minimum player in the lineup. Kim isn’t a bad gamble, you will just have to make sure he is in the lineup.

Ramón Laureano ($5,200)

Laureano is coming off a monster game last night, with four hits that included a home run and a double. Oakland is expected to score runs tonight against the Angels, so taking a player who was fire last night can really pay off.

Here’s our full 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 5/22/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherWalker Buehler $11,000
 PitcherNathan Eovaldi $8,700
 CatcherDanny Jansen $2,800
 First BaseAnthony Rizzo $4,500
 Second BaseGavin Lux $3,500
 Third BaseJoey Wendle $4,300
 Short StopHa-Seong Kim $2,200
 OutfieldRamón Laureano $5,200
 OutfieldKyle Lewis $3,500
 OutfieldJoc Pederson $4,000

Salary Remaining          $200

Nathan Eovaldi ($8,700)

Only two of Eovaldi’s last four games have been good, but going up against a Phillies team that has struck out 29.6 percent of the time over the last week(fourth highest in MLB), this is a play that could easily exceed value.

Gavin Lux ($3,500)

Lux is another player that we are going to go to for the bargin price. He has hits in four of his last five games, which includes two doubles and a home run. Part of the reason his price is low is because of his placement in the order, but that hasn’t been holding him down from hitting value.

Joey Wendle ($4,300)

Wendle comes into tonight’s game with seven hits in his last three games, including a two home run, and double night Thursday. He hasn’t had a lot of success against lefties this year, but Wendle is a player who gets on base, and can produce runs, which gives him a nice floor.

Kyle Lewis ($3,500)

With the Padres going to an opener for tonight’s game, Lewis is a player worth looking at. Relievers create a degree of volatility, and with Lewis in the middle of the Mariners lineup, he should see lots of opportunities to surpass his value tonight.

Joc Pederson ($4,000)

Pederson excels against right handed pitching. He has a 0.297 batting average, and a SLG over 0.430 for the year against them. He will be facing Miles Mikolas of the Cardinals who is making his first start after a lengthy DL stint so I wouldn’t expect him to be sharp, and Pederson should take advantage of that.

Alternative Moves…

Nico Hoerner – 2B ($4,300 DK) If you end up having to shift your lineup around Hoerner is a player that is in a good spot tonight, and fits in nicely to make a Cubs stack. He has hits in five straight games, and has had some multi-hit games mixed in there too.

Robbie Ray– P ($9,500 DK) To this point in the season Ray has posted a career best in walks per nine innings, by more than 2 per nine, while maintaining a near 30 percent strikeout rate. The Rays will optimize their lineup to face the lefty, but Ray is capable of providing a great performance, and he won’t see the ownership of Buehler.
