We’ve got a 12-game slate for Wednesday. The pitching options aren’t as robust as Tuesday but Gerrit Cole is on the slate. I’m paying down at pitching today and paying up at offense. For most of the season, I’ve faded the Dodgers against left-handed pitching but, over the last month, the Dodgers are 21st in strikeouts and 12th in ISO after being near the top/bottom in both categories. WAS, MIN, TOR, and CLE are projected for fewer than four runs. BOS, NYM, and LAD are projected for at least five runs. No teams are projected for fewer than three runs. The COL/MIA game hasn’t had their lines posted yet.
ATL/PHI has some rain in the forecast but nothing too severe. The MIL/CIN game is another story, though. There’s a high risk of rain in that one.

Casey Mize ($6,800)
Mize is not a great pitcher. The FIP is 4.72 and the K/9 is only 7.38. That said, the swinging strike rate is a respectable 10.2 percent and the matchup is a good one. Seattle is 9th in strikeouts and 13thin ISO against right-handed pitching. Mize faced the Mariners four games ago and put up 29.7 DKFP.
Salvador Perez ($5,500)
Perez has 14 home runs and 40 RBI on the season. The slash is .279/.308/.513 with a .235 ISO. He’s one of the best hitting catchers in the league and the price reflects that. Since we paid down at pitching, this is a luxury that doesn’t come along often. He gets to face Griffin Canning, who has a 5.52 FIP and allowed eight home runs to righties. When he’s out of the game, the Angels bullpen has the fifth-highest FIP.
Albert Pujols ($3,100)
We are attacking Tyler Anderson who has allowed a .264/.309/.489 slash to righties and given up nine home runs to them. Pujols has a .309/.345/.673 slash with a .364 ISO against left-handed pitching this season.
Trea Turner ($5,700)
Turner is one of the best shortstops in the game. The slash is .311/.354/.491 with a .180 ISO and he has 10 home runs and 13 stolen bases on the season. I love multiple paths to fantasy goodies. Matchups don’t matter for Trea.
Christian Yelich ($5,300)
Yelich hasn’t been great to start the season, as injuries have derailed things. He’s starting to heat up, though. He’s notched at least one hit in seven of the last nine games and clubbed two home runs. Now he gets to face Vladimir Gutierrez who has a 6.3 percent swinging strike rate and 4.74 FIP in 10 innings this season. The K/9 is 5.4 while the BB/9 is 4.5.

Pitcher | Austin Gomber | $6,000
Catcher | Salvador Perez | $5,500
First Base | Albert Pujols | $3,100

Outfield | Mookie Betts | $5,000
Outfield | AJ Pollock | $3,100
Salary Remaining $000
Austin Gomber ($6,000)
Outside of that one outing in which he put up -14.9 DKFP, Gomber has been solid this season. The swinging strike rate is 11.2 percent and he’s struck out 66 batters in 63.1 innings. Now he faces a Marlins team that is 6th in strikeouts and 23rd in ISO against left-handed pitching.
Chris Taylor ($4,600)
Against left-handed pitching, Taylor has a .310/.394/.672 slash with a .362 ISO. Tyler Anderson is left-handed and one plus one equals two.
Justin Turner ($4,900)
Turner has a .209 ISO against left-handed pitching this season. The slash is only .239/.342/.448 but in his career those numbers are .276/.363/.463.
Mookie Betts ($5,000)
Betts has been somewhat disappointing this season, as the slash is only .258/.373/.438 and the ISO is .180. The plate discipline numbers are still fantastic with a 12.6 percent walk rate and 15.2 percent strikeout rate. He only has five home runs and five stolen bases, though. He’s going to heat up at some point. It’s just a matter of when, not if.
AJ Pollock ($3,100)
The slash against lefties hasn’t been great for Pollock this season – .289/.372/.316. The ISO is only .026. In his career, he’s always hit lefties well with more power as the slash is .285/.336/.514 with a .229 ISO. As with Mookie, it’s only a matter of when he heats up, not if.
Alternative Moves…
Nick Castellanos – OF ($4,500 DK) – Castellanos has 12 home runs on the season. The strikeout rate is only 18.3 percent and the ISO is .268. The only concern is the weather.
Taijuan Walker – P ($8,600 DK)
Walker has been very good this season. The FIP is 3.07 and he’s only allowed two home runs in 54 innings. He faced the Orioles four games ago and put up 21.6 DKFP.
