DFS MLB Baseball Picks for June 5, 2021

Jacob deGrom DFS
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - MARCH 21: New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom (48) throws the ball from the mound during an MLB spring training game between the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals at The Ballpark of The Palm Beaches on March 21, 2021 in West Palm Beach, Florida. We have a six-game slate with first pitches at 7:15 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers, taking on Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Atlanta Braves. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Oakland Athletics (6.1), Colorado Rockies(5.5), and New York Yankees(4.7).

We are not seeing any weather situations that should effect any of tonight’s games.

Here’s our 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 6/05/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherJacob deGrom $11,100
 Pitcher
 CatcherChristian Vásquez $3,200
 First BaseMatt Olson $5,100
 Second Base
 Third Base
 Short StopXander Bogaerts $4,800
 OutfieldMark Canha $4,500

Salary Remaining          $0

Jacob deGrom ($11,100)

In the two starts since coming off the IL, deGrom has given up just one run while striking out 17 batters, so it’s safe to say he is feeling alright. His price is high, but in cash games we want to pay up for quantities in cash games.

Christian Vázquez ($3,200)

We haven’t see a lot of power output from Vázquez recently, but he has been hitting, and he is stealing bases. He will also be facing a pitcher in Jameson Taillon who has seen 15 percent of all of his flyballs result in home runs, and with the game at Yankee Stadium in warm weather we could definitely see some balls leave the yard.

Matt Olson ($5,100)

Olson has an extra-base in each of his last four games(three doubles and a home run). With this game in the Colorado, it’s hard to not pay up for Olson when he has been among the best power hitters in baseball to this point.

Xander Bogaerts ($4,800)

After a rough six day stretch, Bogaerts has gotten things back on track. He has back to back multi-hit games, and he is a solid play today in a favorable matchup in New York against the Yankees.

Mark Cahna ($4,500)

Cahna has hits in three straight games, including a nice game last night where he hit a home run and had a double. I look for him to have another nice game in Colorado where it is rare for there to be any lack of hits.

Here’s our full 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 6/05/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherJacob deGrom $11,100
 PitcherKevin Gausman $8,900
 CatcherChristian Vásquez $3,200
 First BaseMatt Olson $5,100
 Second BaseTony Kemp $3,000
 Third BaseKyle Seager $3,500
 Short StopXander Bogaerts $4,800
 OutfieldMark Canha $4,500
 OutfieldJustin Upton $3,500
 OutfieldMiguel Andújar $2,400

Salary Remaining          $0

Kevin Gausman ($8,900)

How good has Gausman been this year? He hasn’t given up more than one run in a start since April 13th. He also hasn’t had a less than seven strikeouts in his last four games, so he is a nice value today pitching at home.

Tony Kemp ($3,000)

Kemp is another value play today. He is playing in Colorado which always helps, as does his two doubles, and a home run in his last three games.

Kyle Seager ($3,500)

Seager has two multi-hit games, and one of those games he had a home-run and a steal. What draws us to Seager is not just the power potential, but the matchup against the Angels, who will starting Alex Cobb tonight who features an ERA close to four.

Justin Upton ($3,500)

It’s not often that Upton comes up, but he is still hitting for power, and he has hit a home run in back to back games, so now is one of those times to use him, as he is seeing the ball well, and he is known to be a player who is streaky.

Miguel Andújar ($2,400)

Andújar has hit a home run in three of his last four starts. At this price at home, he is a great value play. He is likely also going to see quite a bit of ownership too, but that isn’t always a bad thing in cash games.

Alternative Moves…

Cody Bellinger – OF ($4,400 DK) We are still getting Bellinger at a discount coming off the IL. At some point, potentially soon, he will be a perennial 5k plus player. He is worth a look at this price.

Joe Musgrove– P ($8,700 DK) With the Mets not hitting and dealing with injuries, Musgrove becomes a much nicer play. This game is in San Diego which only furthers his value today.
