DFS MLB Baseball Picks for June 3, 2021

Yu Darvish
CHICAGO, IL - SEPTEMBER 09: Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish (11) throws a pitch during the MLB baseball game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs on September 9, 2020 at Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL.  We’ve got an eight-game slate for Thursday. There are interesting pitching options down low but I’m paying up at both slots today since I was able to fit in the stack I wanted. DET, SEA, CHC, and SD are all projected for fewer than four runs. No teams are projected for at least five runs while NYM is projected for fewer than three runs. MIN/KC, MIA/PIT, and ARI/MIL haven’t had their lines posted yet.

There’s a little rain forecasted for the MIA/PIT game, but it doesn’t look too daunting.

Here’s our 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 6/3/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherYu Darvish $10,700
 Pitcher
 CatcherOmar Narvaez $3,600
 First BaseGarrett Cooper $4,300
 Second Base
 Third Base
 Short StopWilly Adames $4,000
 OutfieldTyler O’Neill $4,600

Salary Remaining          $100

Yu Darvish ($10,700)

Darvish has a 2.92 FIP and 12 percent swinging strike rate. He’s struck out 79 batters in 66.2 innings while allowing 16 walks and six home runs. While the Mets are only 20th in strikeouts against right-handed pitching, they are one of the most inept offenses in the league – 28th in ISO and dead-last in runs scored.

Omar Narvaez ($3,600)

We are attacking the Diamondbacks pitching today. Seth Frankoff is slated to start and the Arizona bullpen is 10th in FIP. Frankoff has a 6.79 FIP and has given up three home runs and nine walks in 13.2 innings. Against right-handed pitching this season, Narvaez has a .380/.446/.680 slash with a .300 ISO.

Garrett Cooper ($4,300)

Tyler Anderson is on the mound for the Pirates. Against righties this season, the FIP is 4.63 and the HR/9 IS 1.9. Cooper has a .292/.333/.500 slash with a .208 ISO against left-handed pitching.

Willy Adames ($4,000)

Adames bats second for the Brewers. The strikeout rate is high at 33.9 percent but the ISO is .182 and he has seven home runs on the season.

Tyler O’Neill ($4,600)

Since returning from a 10-day IL stint due to a broken finger, O’Neill has hit four home runs and stolen a base. The strikeout rate has been 46.2 percent and he hasn’t drawn a walk but the ISO is at .577! The slash is .385/.385/.962 but the BABIP is an insane .600. This heater won’t last forever but that doesn’t mean it has to end today. Vladimir Gutierrez will make his second career-start for the Cardinals. In his first start, he struck out three in five innings and allowed a home run. The FIP was 5.73, though, and the swinging strike rate was only 4.5 percent.

ere’s our full 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 6/3/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherYu Darvish $10,700
 PitcherLance Lynn $9,700
 CatcherOmar Narvaez $3,600
 First BaseGarrett Cooper $4,300
 Second BaseKolten Wong $4,200
 Third BaseTravis Shaw $3,300
 Short StopWilly Adames $4,000
 OutfieldTyler O’Neill $4,600
 OutfieldLaMonte Wade Jr. $2,800
 OutfieldJackie Bradley Jr. $2,700

Salary Remaining          $100

Lance Lynn ($9,700)

Lynn has a 2.86 FIP and 12.5 percent swinging strike rate on the season. He has 57 strikeouts in 52.2 innings while he’s allowed four home runs and 15 walks. Now he faces a Tigers team that is 2nd in strikeouts and 19th in ISO against right-handed pitching.

Kolten Wong ($4,200)

Wong bats lead off for the Brewers and we are attacking Arizona pitching today. Wong has four home runs and five stolen bases on the season. The strikeout rate is only 14.8 percent while the ISO is a respectable .164 with a .283/.347/.447 slash.

Travis Shaw ($3,300)

Shaw will likely bat towards the bottom of the lineup but he’s part of the Brewers stack and he’s cheap. Five of his six home runs have come against right-handed pitching. The ISO is .155 but he has a career .201 mark and the BABIP is at .236, so good fortune will come his way and he will get into a groove at some point.

LaMonte Wade Jr. ($2,800)

Wade bats lead off for the Giants. The strikeout rate is 32 percent but he has a .333/.440/.524 slash with a .190 ISO in 25 plate appearances. The BABIP is .500 so this heater is unsustainable but he’s hot for now. The walk rate is 12 percent and he has one home run and one stolen base.

Jackie Bradley Jr. ($2,700)

Bradley bats ahead of the pitcher but he’s the final piece to the Brewers stack and he’s super cheap. The strikeout rate is high at 33 percent and the ISO is at .119 but he’s a career .170 ISO batter. In addition, the BABIP is only .200 so the .150 batting average should improve at some point. Bradley has four home runs and two stolen bases in 176 plate appearances.

Alternative Moves…

Joc Pederson – SS ($4,500 DK) – Pederson bats lead off for the Cubs against right-handed pitching. In his career against righties, he has a .258 ISO. Anthony DeSclafani has served up six of seven home runs to lefties and the FIP is 4.8 against them this season.

Griffin Canning – P ($9,400 DK)

Canning faces a Mariners team that is 9th in strikeouts against right-handed pitching. He faced them five games ago and put up 31 DKFP.
