Ronald Acuna Jr. playing baseball
ATLANTA, GA Ð SEPTEMBER 04: Atlanta Braves center fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (13) reacts after hitting his second home run of the game during the MLB game between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves on September 4th, 2020 at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA. We have an seven-game slate with first pitch at 7:15 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Atlanta Braves, taking on Nolan Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals in Atlanta. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Colorado Rockies (5.5), Los Angeles Dodgers(5.4), and Los Angeles Angels(5.4).

The Braves and the Cardinals is at risk of being rained out tonight, or at the very least a rain delay. There is a better than 60 percent chance of rain in Atlanta tonight.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 6/19/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherWalker Buehler $11,100
 Pitcher
 CatcherLuis Torrens $2,000
 First Base
 Second BaseGarrett Hampson $4,300
 Third Base
 Short Stop
 OutfieldRonald Acuna Jr. $6,200
 OutfieldWil Myers $3,700
 Outfield

Walker Buehler ($11,100)

Much like the Bauer pick I made last Saturday, Buehler is a must play in cash games. He is the biggest name on the slate and will see very high ownership(likely over 70%). I think he will perform tonight in Arizona, but even if he doesn’t you’re have lost much.

Luis Torrens ($2,000)

I love the value or Torrens today. He has three multi-hit games in his last four games including two home runs, at his price you can live with just two hits, but his price tag will also help offset the cost of Buehler.

Garrett Hampson ($4,300)

Hampson’s play has really picked up since the Rockies got back home. He has five hits in his last four games, including a double, a triple, and a home run. It’s hard to avoid the Rockies when they are at home.

Ronald Acuña Jr. ($6,200)

When I look at recent number Acuña doesn’t fit the normal mold of looking for high SLG(he has just 0.692 SLG in the last four games), but his batting average is 0.462, and if Acuña is hitting the ball hard enough to have that high of an average, then it is only a matter of time until those single turn into extra bases. At his price, he is going to need them, but he may have the highest ceiling of any player in MLB DFS.

Wil Myers ($3,700)

Myers won people DFS contests yesterday with two home runs and a double, so why not go back to the well today and see if he stays hot, especially at his asking price.

The A List

Fernando Tatis Jr – SS ($6,100) – In Tatis’ last four games, he has gotten on base 50 percent of the time. He has a home run in five of his last seven games, and he has a couple of doubles mixed in there as well. Tatis is among the hottest hitters in baseball. If you’re going to pay up for a hitter, he is a solid choice.

Ty France – 3B ($2,600)The price of France is unfathomable to me. In his last five games he has five doubles and a two home runs, and two three hit games. You will struggle to beat this value today.

Framber Valdez – P ($9,500) – Look past the name of the team he is playing today, the White Sox have the four lowest SLG of the teams playing tonight(sixth lowest in the league) over the last two weeks, so they are doing very little damage, as their injuries seem to of caught up with them. Valdez in his own right is yet to give up more than one run in any of his four starts this season.

The B List

Taylor Ward – OF ($2,800) – Ward has hit safely in eight straight games, and he has two double and a home run over his last two games. That on its own in something to pay attention to, and I didn’t even mention that he is playing the Tigers tonight.

Steven Souza Jr. OF ($2,000) – In Souza’s career he has been effective when healthy, the problem often being that he is almost never healthy. He hit a home run last night, and he has a hit in his previous game too. He is a solid play if you’re looking to pay up for some of the bigger names today.

Patrick Sandoval – P ($8,600 DK) In the last two weeks, Tigers batters have gotten on base less than 30 percent of the time, which makes it pretty hard to score runs. Sandoval hasn’t given up more than two runs in any of his last five games, and I would guess that trend continues tonight.

The C List

Guillermo Heredia– OF ($2,500 DK) There is a lot of value in the outfield tonight, and Heredia is no different. He isn’t thought of as a power hitter, but in his last five game he has four doubles and a home run, to go along with three multi-hit games.

C.J. Cron– 1B ($4,300 DK) – Seven of Cron’s homeruns this season have come at home(not a big surprise when you play in Colorado), he also has a 0.339 batting average against right-handed pitching(which he is facing tonight). He also has hit a home run in three of his last five games. All of this is to say, you should consider using Cron in your lineup tonight.

J.P. Crawford– SS ($3,300 DK) If you’re looking for value at shortstop instead of paying up for Tatis, Crawford is worth a look. He has a hit in each of his last six games, with three multi-hit games, a pair of doubles and a home run.

The Strategy

Cash Games – Success in cash games is getting the right high-owned players today is no different. Play the high chalk players like Buehler, and stack Colorado and Milwaukee with that expected to be the highest scoring game tonight.

GPP Games – Stars and Scrubs is the way to go in GPP today. We have value players who are hot, and we have some of the most expensive players hitting well as well with Tatis and Acuna. Take advantage of this, and if you’re going to go middle of the road, try to make sure you are getting some shares of the Rockies and Brewers.
