We have ten games today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Trea Turner and the Los Angeles Dodgers, taking on Fernando Tatis Jr. and the San Diego Padres in San Diego. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Boston Red Sox (5.9), Los Angeles Angels (5.4), and Cleveland (5.3).

The weather looks good today with the chances of rain below fifteen percent for each of the games.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 8/25/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherWalker Buehler $9,700
 Pitcher
 CatcherMitch Garver $3,900
 First Base
 Second Base
 Third BaseJosh Donaldson $3,600
 Short StopAmed Rosario $4,000
 Outfield
 Outfield
 OutfieldHunter Renfroe $4,800

Walker Buehler-  P  ($9,700) – At this point, the only thing that might be more consistent than Buehler’s pitching is how consistently seeing his name triggers memories of Ferris Buehler’s Day Off. He hasn’t given up more than two runs since the start of July, and he has struck out at least eight batters in each of his last three starts.

Mitch Garver– C  ($3,900) – This is a great price for Garver. He gets on base 35 percent of the time, and he has hits in three of his last four games including a double yesterday. He will also face Nick Pivetta today who only lasted 1.2 innings in his last start and has an ERA at 4.5 over his last ten starts.

Josh Donaldson–3B ($4,600) – In Donaldson’s last three games he has two home runs and he is a player who rarely gets you a zero. He hits near the top of the Twins lineup, and he gets on base 35 percent of the time so he is often in a position to get you points.

Amed Rosario – SS ($4,000) – Rosario’s hitting streak hit ten games last night and he has scored a run in four straight games. He isn’t a player known for his power, but he can provide you with a few hits, and still get you a nice score.

Hunter Renfroe – OF ($4,800) – Renfroe now has four home runs in his last four games for the Red Sox. He will face a Twins starter today who has an ERA close to five in his last ten games so don’t be surprised to see a big start from Renfroe today.

The Pitchers

Johnny Cueto ($7,600) In Cueto’s last three starts he has given up just five total runs, while going at least five innings in each start, with two of these starts against Milwaukee and the Dodgers (two teams in a playoff spot today). He will face a Mets team that has struggled to score runs over the last two weeks so we should get a good start for Cueto today.

Luis Castillo ($9,300) – Castillo has fared well in this last three starts against the Brewers. In those three starts, he has only given up three total runs while striking out 21 batters.

Zach Plesac ($8,300) – Plesac is an upside play. He has had issues giving up home runs, no one can deny that, however, he does have ten strikeout potential. He is also aided by facing the weak-hitting Texas Rangers tonight.

The Value Players

Nate Lowe – 1B ($2,500) – Lowe is coming off a five-hit game with a double and a home run, and he has at least a hit in each of his last four games. You’re getting him near the minimum price, and he could provide another big game.

Jorge Polanco –2B ($3,600) – Over the course of his last seven games, Polanco has five multi-hit games, and in his last two games he has two home runs. He continues to hit at the top of the Twins order and he continues to be of tremendous value.

Alex Verdugo – OF  ($3,500) – Verdugo has six hits in his last two games with two doubles and a home run. His spot in the batting order isn’t ideal, but with the Red Sox expected to score lots of runs, and how well he has been playing, there is lots of value to be had.

The Stacks

Boston Red Sox – The Red Sox are again expected to score the most runs today. We talked about Verdugo and Renfroe, and I would look to add either Kike Hernandez or Rafael Devers to them to round out the stack.

Minnesota Twins – The Twins make for a nice low-owned, low-cost stack today. Donaldson, Garver, and Polanco all come at a low cost, and with the Red Sox being favourites they likely don’t see high a lot of usage.

Los Angeles Angels – The Angels are starting to see production from their young hitters. Brandon Marsh and Jo Adell have started to hit, so you can add Shohei Ohtani and/or Jared Walsh for a nice stack for the Angels.
