DFS MLB Baseball Picks for August 12, 2021

Marcus Semien
ANAHEIM, CA - AUGUST 11: Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Marcus Semien (10) laughs after greeting right fielder Teoscar Hernandez (37) at home plate after Hernandez hit a grand slam home run in the fifth inning of a game against the Los Angeles Angels played on August 11, 2021 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. We have three games today with the first pitch at 9:38 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Vladimir Guerreros Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays, taking on Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the San Diego Padres (5.5), Toronto Blue Jays (4.6), and the San Francisco Giants (4.5).

The weather doesn’t look like it will be an issue for any of today’s games with the chance of rain below 10 percent for each of the games.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 8/12/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherJosé Berríos $8,800
 Pitcher
 CatcherBuster Posey $3,900
 First Base
 Second BaseMarcus Semien $5,100
 Third Base
 Short StopBrendan Crawford $4,000
 Outfield
 Outfield
 OutfieldTrent Grisham $4,100

José Berríos –  P  ($9,400) – Berríos has given up just one run and walked just one batter in his last three starts. He will face an Angels team that owns a team SLG of just 0.296 over the last two weeks which is the second-worst in MLB.

Buster Posey – C  ($4,100) – We are going to go back to Posey again. He is a good option, and he has hit a home run in back-to-back games now.

Marcus Semien – 2B  ($5,100) – In Semien’s last three games he has four hits, two doubles, and a steal. Paying up for hitters going against Ohtani isn’t often a great idea, but with such a short slate, you want to get the hottest hitters no matter the circumstance.

Brendan Crawford  – SS ($4,000)  Speaking of hot hitters, Brandon Crawford, has hits in eleven of his last twelve games, and in his last three games, he has three doubles and a home run. It’s a good matchup against Arizona today too.

Trent Grisham  – OF ($4,900)  Grisham has hits in seven of his last eight games. He has a double and a triple in his last three games, and he moved up to the leadoff spot last night as well which adds a nice amount of value.

The Pitchers

Yu Darvish ($9,500 DK) Davish is coming off a gem of a start. He gave up two runs while striking out twelve. He will face the same Arizona team that he struck out twelve times last week again tonight.

Logan Webb ($7,400) – Webb hasn’t given up more than two runs in any of his last five games. He is coming off a start where he struck out nine batters, and he will be facing a Rockies team that struggles at times when away from home.

The Value Players

Brandon Belt – 1B ($3,900) – While Belt didn’t have a hit last night, he does still have five extra-base hits in his four games previous to that. It’s a good opportunity for him tonight to face the Rockies at home.

LaMonte Wade Jr. – 1B/OF ($2,900) – At his price, Wade is almost worth it just for his placement in the leadoff spot in the Giants lineup. To add to that he has hits in six straight games and he hit a home run last night.

Connor Joe – 1B/OF  ($2,900) – In the last three games Joe has moved to the top of the Rockies lineup. In that time he had three hits and two home runs. Not bad for a player under 3K.

The Stacks

San Francisco Giants – We talked about four Giants hitters today, which makes stacking them relatively easy. The only other player I would add to their list would be Mike Yastrzemski.

Toronto Blue Jays – Toronto is a tough team to stack, and if you want to do it tonight you will have to find the money to save elsewhere. A good stack for the Blue Jays today is likely to include Semien, along with Teoscar Hernandez and George Springer.

San Diego Padres – We talked about Grisham, but you can add Eric Hosmer, Wil Myers, or Manny Machado for a solid Padres stack.
