We have ten games today with the first pitch at 1:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Jose Ramirez and the Cleveland Indians, taking on Tim Anderson and the Chicago White Sox in Chicago. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Toronto Blue Jays (6.0), Detroit Tigers (5.4) and the New York Mets (5.4).
We have a greater than 20% chance of rain in Washington for the game between the Nationals and the Cubs, so be mindful that the game could be delayed or postponed.
Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 8/01/21 (using DraftKings Values)
|Second Base||Jonathan India||$5,000|
|Short Stop||Dansby Swanson||$4,300|
Kyle Gibson – P ($6,900) – Gibson is a pitcher I’m willing to buy in on at his price. He only strikes out 20 percent of the batters he faces, but he will be facing a struggling Pirates team today and he should get a small bump changing leagues and getting to face pitchers.
Jonathan India – 2B ($5,000) – While the price tag is a little higher than I would normally like to pay, India has at least a hit in five of his last six games, and he has two home runs and a double in his last two games.
Dansby Swanson – SS ($4,300) – Swanson has a hit in seven straight games, and he has been showing his power recently with three home runs in his last three games.
George Springer – OF ($5,400) – In Springer today, we are getting two things. One, we get a player who has two home runs and two doubles in his last two games, and we get the leadoff hitter for the team that is expected to score the most runs today. So hopefully we are able to mix his hot streak with a great opportunity and we get a big day from him.
Akil Baddoo –OF ($4,200) Much like Springer, part of what we are buying with Baddoo is a high place in the batting order of a team that is expected to score lots of runs. Baddoo has hits in six of his last seven starts and has been a real sparkplug for a surprising Tigers offence.

Jordan Montgomery ($7,400 DK) Coming into today, Montgomery hasn’t given up a run in either of his last two starts, and he will be facing one of the worst teams in the league at hitting left-handed pitching in the Marlins today.
Marco Gonzales ($6,500) – Coming into today, Gonzales has given up more than three runs just once in his last five starts. He will be facing a Rangers team that isn’t hitting right now and hitting lefties worse than righties as well. You likely won’t get a lot of strikeouts, but if you can get the innings and a win, you will of gotten great value here.
Adam Wainwright ($9,600) – Wainwright continues to be effective. He has given up just three runs over his last two starts, and he will be facing a Twins team that looks a lot less scary today than it did a month ago.
The Value Players
Tres Barrera – C ($3,000) – Barrera has taken over the everyday catching duties for the Nationals and has looked good doing it. He has had at least a hit in four of his last five games, and he has been hitting in the middle of the order.
Miguel Cabrera – 1B ($3,500) – Miggy looks to of found his swing lately. He has a hit in seven straight games, and he has two doubles and three home runs in his last five games.
Jorge Soler – OF ($3,400) – Soler had three hits in his Braves debut, and they have moved him up to the second spot in the lineup today. Soler is known for having big power, and he should get some opportunities to put that on display today.
Toronto Blue Jays – The key to stacking the Blue Jays is finding the value players because they have so many pricey players. We talked about Springer, and I would be looking to add Reece McGuire, Teoscar Hernandez to him much up the stack.
Detroit Tigers – The Tigers are opposite to the Blue Jays. Every player is below 5k, so you can easily make a Baddoo, Schoop, Cabrera stack and have lots of budget left to spend.
Atlanta Braves – We talked about the Braves’ two hottest hitters in Swanson and Soler, but I wouldn’t forget about Austin Riley who has been showing power recently or Ozzie Albies to give you another top of the order player.
