We have just a five-game main slate for today on DraftKings with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays taking on Corey Seager and the new look Texas Rangers in Toronto.
You will want to keep an eye on the weather tonight for the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves as there is a chance the game is delayed in starting as there is a 40-50 percent chance of rain.
Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 4/8/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Charlie Morton ($8,400) – This is a really nice price for Morton, who is pitching at home today, and we shouldn’t forget that Morton’s strikeout rate ticked up last year to 28 percent. The Braves should play better today with all of the ceremonies out of the way which should help Morton get the win.
Tyler Stephenson ($3,300) – It isn’t often that you are going to get middle of the lineup bats, who both catch and are at a bargain price all the time. Stephenson has plenty of power and if the Braves struggle again today we could see a nice game from Stephenson.
Bo Bichette ($6,000) – Bichette comes into this year as one of the top shortstops in baseball, and with that will likely come high ownership. Look for Bichette to take advantage of the Rangers pitching starting pitching and the Blue Jays also have the highest projected run total today at 5.2.

The Pitchers
Max Scherzer ($10,200 DK) Scherzer comes into this game as the highest-priced pitcher on the slate, and for good reason. If there is a pitcher that you can strike out 10 or more batters tonight and put up a big score it’s Max Scherzer.
Jose Berrios ($8,900 DK) – With is a nice price for Berrios starting at home. He should have an energetic home crowd behind him, and with all of the Rangers’ moves in the off-season, they could struggle offensively early in the season.
The Value Players
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($4,200) – Gurriel is a bit of an underrated hitter who is in what should be a very good Toronto lineup. On top of that this will be Jon Gray’s first start after changing leagues which could lead to lots of runs for the Blue Jays.
Matt Duffy ($3,800) – Duffy had a nice game for the Angels yesterday with a couple of hits for the Angels, who should have a productive lineup when everyone is healthy, and they should see a lot of the Astros bullpen today with Jake Odorizzi starting today who typically doesn’t go much past the 5th inning in his starts.
Guillermo Heredia ($2,700) – Heredia hits left-handed pitchers really well. Last year he hit 50 points better with his batting average and nearly 100 points on his slugging percentage against left-handed pitching. He isn’t going to cost you much, and you won’t need a lot from him to get to value either.
The Stacks
Toronto Blue Jays – With the Blue Jays’ off-season additions you can really stack almost any part of their lineup from top to bottom. You should look to base your stack though on one or both of their higher-priced players in Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Bo Bichette, as they offer the most upside. And then mix and match from there with the likes of George Springer, Teoscar Hernandez, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, and Matt Chapman.
San Diego Padres – The Padres have a high implied run total today at 5, which means their stacks should be considered. For me, I want to look at some combination of Jake Cronenworth, Manny Machado, Luke Voit, and Wil Myers.
New York Mets – The Mets have the second-highest implied run total today at 5.1. Their stacks should consist of Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso, but you could add in Eduardo Escobar or Mark Canha if you are looking for some salary relief.
