While the group stage at worlds 2020 had some very exciting games and upsets with Team Liquid beating Suning and G2, PSG Talon taking down JDG, and Flyquest over the pre-tournament favorite Top Esports, the final standings of group stage were as expected. From group A, Suning finished as the number one seed after beating G2 in a very close tiebreaker. From group B, Damwon finished as the number one seed and JDG failed to reach a tiebreaker match after getting upset by PSG Talon put them out of tied for first place. From group C, GenG finished as the number one seed with a strong week two performance, with Fnatic right behind. Lastly, group D, Top Esports finished as the number one seed after defeating DRX in the final game of the group stage. The quarterfinals matches are Damwon versus DRX, Suning versus JDG, TES versus Fnatic, and GenG versus G2.
Today’s free pick is Ghost ($7,800 DK, $15,500 FD) from Damwon. So far at worlds 2020 Ghost has done a great job playing a more supportive role to his carries of Nuguri, Canyon, and ShowMaker. Ghost has been very successful on longer-range utility champions like Jhin, Senna and Ashe. In Damwon’s six group stage games Ghost has a KDA of 10.0. However, if you take out their only loss, his KDA jumps to 30.0 with a score line of 17/2/43. Ghost plays a very safe and reserved style leading to fewer kills than the average AD carry, but he makes up for it with minimal deaths and countless assists. Heavily consider him for your STAR or MVP player.
Subscribers will additionally see which two pairs of opponents always play well against each other, which top laner’s performance is similar to TheShy from worlds 2018, which jungler dominates on Graves and Nidalee, which JDG player has been most consistent, and which underdog team to take.
DraftKings and FanDuel are running different formats these best-of-five series. DraftKings users are using the same format of scoring with one MVP player (1.5x points), one player of each position, and one team. However, the players and scoring will be from the first two out of the four best-of-five series. Meaning players will be pick from Damwon, DRX, Suning, and JDG. FanDuel users have a new lineup and scoring format but will only select players that are playing on that day. You will select one MVP player (2x points), one STAR player (1.5x points), and three utility positions. A utility position can be any player from any role and includes team selections.
Top Lane DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Bin ($6,000 DK, N/A FD) is the second cheapest top laner, but arguably had the best group stage performance out of all top laners. His carry performances on Jax, Camille, Irelia, and Gangplank were a thing of beauty, constantly outplaying his opponents in one versus X scenarios and pushing the boundaries of his champions. His performance this year is comparable to TheShy’s performances in the 2018 world championship where he led Invictus Gaming to China’s first ever world championship. Should Bin continue his strong performance the top lane matchup against Zoom will be fun to watch.
Jungle DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Since his first game at worlds where he played Nidalee, Canyon ($6,800 DK, $13,500 FD) has exclusively played Graves since. Graves is the second highest presence jungler just behind Nidalee but is sitting at 44% win rate. Despite being one of the best jungle champions at the tournament many junglers have struggled with him. However, Canyon is 4-1 on Graves with a KDA of 28/6/28. Graves’ win rate and KDA drop significantly if you exclude Canyon’s performances. In a best-of-five format it is essential to have proficiency on all the top champions for your role and Canyon has showed he can perform on the two most important.
Mid Lane DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Damwon and DRX have already had two best-of-five series between them in the LCK during 2020. In the spring playoffs DRX edged out Damwon in a very close 3-2 but Damwon won the second matchup destroying them in the finals of the summer playoffs. ShowMaker ($7,600 DK, $15,000 FD) and Chovy ($6,800 DK, $11,000 FD) are evenly matched and always play well against each other regardless of which team wins. At worlds 2020, both mid laners lead their position in KDA and along with knight from Top Esports look like the best mid laners at the tournament. At worlds 2020 they both have prioritized wave clear roaming champions such as Galio and Twisted Fate. These two champions will be highly contested in the draft and both players will have to dig deep into their champion pool in this best-of-five.
AD Carry DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Loken ($7,600 DK, N/A FD) has been JDG’s most consistent player across the entire group stage. While other JDG players had big differences, for the better and the worse, in week one and week two, Loken stayed strong across all their matches. He is one of the few AD carries to not play Senna and go deeper into the AD carry champion pool bringing out champions like Miss Fortune and Ezreal. We’ll have to see if Loken and LDG will pick up Senna as it seems to be the best AD carry at worlds, or if Loken continues his more niche approach on the meta.
Support DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Like ShowMaker and Chovy, BeryL ($5,800 DK, $8,500 FD) and Keria ($5,000 DK, $9,000 FD)are evenly matched and both perform well against each other no matter the outcome. BeryL plays more of the hard engage, diving supports like Alistar, Leona, and Pantheon with Keria playing more supportive with peel and enchanters like Bard, Lulu, Lux, and Thresh. As the supports stylistically matchup different it should be very interesting how both teams choose to draft and if they will switch up their styles against each other.
Team DFS Picks for October 15, 2020
Damwon and JDG are the favorites over DRX ($4,200 DK, $8,000 FD) and Suning ($4,800 DK, N/A FD) but both underdogs have great value. Damwon and DRX are 1-1 in best-of-five series against each other in LCK 2020, but in regular season matches DRX is 3-1 against Damwon. It’s difficult to judge the skill level of both teams as they had relatively easy groups with two weak teams in each group. Suning were much more challenged in their group with G2, Team Liquid, and Machi. Going into the tournament somewhat unknown, Suning is looking like one of the stronger teams moving into the knockout stage and will be a tough out for JDG.
MVP and STAR Picks for October 15, 2020
All Damwon players can be considered for MVP or STAR. Damwon is the lone Korean team to play a fast and aggressive style in the early game result in bloodbath with high kills and assists. Loken and huanfeng are both the most consistent performers on their team and have been playing better than expectations.
