We are now reaching the point in the NFL season where teams are starting to figure out who they really are. For DFS players, this is always an exciting time as we like to think we now know who the solid plays will be week in and week out. The mid point of the season also offers a tough problem, bye weeks. As the slates thin it puts even more emphasis on solid, cheap picks. With that said, here are three guys playing this weekend I love that will save you some serious cash. As always, I will be using draft king DFS NFL prices for these plays , but the pricing will be similar across all DFS platforms.
Breece Hall, NYJ RB: $5,800
The Jets look good for the first time since I’ve been an adult. This team has an identity and the young talent to make some noise this year. One of those young and talented players I love is first year RB Breece Hall. Hall’s total season stats are misleading, totaling only 391 rushing yards and 3 TD’s. Let’s not be too hasty here, Hall is the most talented rookie running back in the most improved offense in the league. Hall averages over 5 yards per touch this year and has been used as a feature back in the last games. Now the Jets travel to Denver where Russel Wilson is out this Sunday. I like the Jets to get up early and stay up, relying on their running game to set the pace of play. Look for Hall to get at least 20 touches and a touchdown in this one.
Geno Smith, SEA QB: $5,700
Smith is probably the individual story of the year for the NFL. A highly sought after player in college, Smith had a hard time adjusting to the NFL in his younger years. A veteran with Seattle now, Smith is putting up great numbers on a team few thought would win more than 3 games. Seattle may not be great, but it isn’t Smith’s fault, totaling 1,502 yards and 9 TD’s through seven games with only 2 picks. That’s good enough for a 108.1 QBR, top 5 in the league. Smith takes on a banged up Chargers team on Sunday, look for a shootout between him and Herbert.
Zach Ertz, ARZ TE: $4900
Ertz has experienced a true rebirth in Arizona. Once a top 3 TE in Philadelphia, Ertz is now putting up top 5 numbers once again in the desert. For some reason, wether it be his age or position, Ertz always gets a low price even though he is the third best DFS TE this year. I say make hay while the sun shines. If the price setters want to undervalue Ertz, let them. This is a guy that needs to be in your lineup this week. Hopkins back in with the team only clears up more space for Ertz to get those 7-13 yard catches that Arizona uses to move the chains. Look for Ertz to catch at least 6 balls this Sunday.
