Week 6 of the NFL season has offered up some wild games and outcomes. Let’s take a look at some winners and losers from Sunday, and what lessons we can learn going forward about playing these guys.
Winners:
Deon Jackson, RB IND:
Jackson’s name was called on Sunday as both first-string RB Jonathan Taylor and second-string RB Nyheim Hines were out against the Jags due to injury. Jackson played a great game, totaling 12 rushes for 42 yards with a rushing touchdown, while also catching 10 passes on 10 targets for an additional time 79 yards. The best cost to production ratio of the weekend , Jackson may have forced himself into the Colts game-plan going forward. Look for Jackson to offer great value plays in the next few weeks as the Colts back field gets back to full strength.
Joe Burrow, QB CIN:
A shootout in the Bayou saw Joe Burrows’s best performance of the 2022 season by far. The LSU alumni threw for 300 yards on the dot with 3 passing touchdowns. Burrow also added 25 yards and a touchdown on the ground. While Burrow’s rushing stats may have peaked in this game, his throwing numbers are a great sign for the young QB. Burrow and the Bengals will look to keep the positive energy going next week against an underrated Falcons team. Burrow’s next three games are against .500 or worse teams, if he cant keep up the play he showed against the Saints then Burrow might be a guy to stay away from in your DFS lineups.
Kenneth Walker III, RB SEA:
This is the weirdest year in the history of the Seahawks. Projected to be a bottom 5 team in the preseason, this team has shown positive momentum lead by Geno Smith of all people. With that said, one of Seattles weakness this year has been their inability to have a lead runner in the backfield- Walker may have ended that discussion this weekend. Rushing 21 times for 97 yards and a touchdown against an average Arizona defense, Walker proved that he can handle 20 plus touches a game in this offense. Walker is gonna be available at a good price going forward this year, and I expect to play him several more times over the rest of the season.
Losers:
Kareem Hunt, RB CLE:
Hunt had a miserable day on Sunday, rushing four times for 12 yards and missing his sole target against the Patriots. The Patriots had their way all day against a Browns team that couldn’t get anything going. A large deficit forced the Browns to pass for almost the whole game, so obviously nay running back is going to regress in that situation. With that said, Hunt is the RB in Cleveland who should be getting check downs in situations like this. In addition to that, this Patriots team is not special and should not have clogged up Hunt’s production the wya they did. Hunt remains on the higher end for RB’s in DFS, and this game is a bad sign for his future days. Try and avoid Hunt in future DFS plays, at least until Watson gets off his suspension.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB KC:
CHE has been a beast this season, staying in the top 10 in fantasy RB performance through 6 weeks. With that said, this week 6 game against Buffalo was a tough day for CHE and should leave owners worried about his future production. This game proved that CHE is vulnerable to strong opposition. Typically in fantasy, you want to be the one dictating the defense rather than the other way around. With that said, Buffalo is one of the best teams in the league so everyone on Kansas City except Juju saw set backs. Be cautious playing CHE going forward, especially against playoff capable teams.
