After a few huge slates in a row, there are only five NBA games for us to break down tonight. However, there is no shortage of moving parts here, as there are a ton of key injuries and questionable tags. The Brooklyn Nets look great for value in another home game, and the Clippers are short-handed with a great matchup. One team we are watching eagerly is the Houston Rockets, as Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood are both questionable.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 2/17/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardK. Lowry $6,600
Shooting Guard
Small ForwardS. Curry $5,500
Power Forward
Center
Guard
Forward
Utility

Kyle Lowry was a bit disappointing last time out with 26 FPTS. However, he played 38 minutes with Tyler Herro unavailable for Miami. Lowry is averaging 33.7 FPTS on the season, and he has been a fantastic DFS producer for years. We really like getting to him at only $6,600, as we know he has the upside to blow away this tag. We want some exposure to the Heat with this matchup against Charlotte, and Lowry is the perfect way to get that exposure.

Seth Curry was one of our core plays last night, as he is the best offensive player for the Nets right now. He has taken massive usage in both of his games in a Brooklyn uniform, as he scored 34.25 and 38.75 FPTS respectively in those two games. Curry has a ton of upside in the role he is playing and is way too cheap at $5,500. With a nice matchup against Washington. Curry is a priority for us once again.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 2/17/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Lamelo Ball has been fantastic lately, but he has had the benefit of easy matchups over the past week or two. Tonight, the Hornets take on the Miami Heat, who have a reputation for slowly grinding down teams. This is an awful matchup for a player like Ball, so we are fading here in favor of some of the other stars available.

Point Guard

Reggie Jackson – ($6,800 DK) The price has risen about $1,000 on Jackson, but that is not nearly enough given the absurd role he has been playing. Jackson has been consistently playing nearly 40 minutes while taking superstar-level usage while on the floor. He has gone well over 40 FPTS in two of his last three outings, as he is averaging over 20 attempts a game in that span. His upside is fantastic here, and it looks even better with a matchup against the Houston Rockets.

Shooting Guard

Dennis Schroder – ($4,400 DK) The Houston Rockets were without Kevin Porter Jr. last time out, and he is currently questionable for tonight. Schroder is an absolute priority for us if Porter sits again, as he stepped into a massive role in his absence. Schroder played 39 minutes last game, as his high usage led him to 46 FPTS. He is still only $4,400, so he is a no-brainer if he is going to play a similar role.

Small Forward

Eric Gordon – ($3,800 DK) Gordon is coming in at a fantastic price tag tonight, as he looks solid for value regardless of if Porter plays. However, if we get the news that Porter is out again Gordon is a clear lock for us. He played 38 minutes last game and shot the ball 24 times, which gives him fantastic upside at any price let alone $3,800.

Power Forward

Alperen Sengun – ($4,500 DKChristian Wood was sidelined last game for Houston, which meant the starting nod and lots of minutes for Sengun. He went for 49.5 FPTS with a huge double-double, and we know Sengun is a great DFS producer when given the opportunity. If wood is ruled out again Sengun should be in for another start, so he is a priority if that is the case.

Center

Joel Embiid – ($11,800 DK) With all the injuries tonight we have a ton of value, so it won’t be hard finding the salary to spend up for studs like Embiid. Embiid has been on a tear lately, ending with a blowout loss last game. However, we expect him to continue the productivity we have been seeing over the past few weeks, as the Sixers will remain short-handed until James Harden is able to play.

General strategy

Right now, everything boils down to what happens with Porter and Wood. If they both end up out again, the Rockets will easily be our favorite of the ten teams playing tonight. If Wood ends up out, then the Houston frontcourt guys like Sengun and Jae’Sean Tate are priorities. While we want to get to guards like Gordon and Schroder if Porter sits. If they both end up out, we will lean more on the value from Brooklyn and L.A.
