NFL DFS Saturday Wildcard Two Game Slate Advice

FOXBOROUGH, MA - DECEMBER 28: Buffalo Bills running back Devin Singletary (26) takes the ball from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) during a game between the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills on December 28, 2020, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Playoffs have arrived and Saturday will be kicking off Wildcard Weekend with a double-header, as the Raiders will be in Cincinnati for game one, than an AFC matchup between the Patriots and Bills to cap off the night. As the field of teams get whittled down towards the Super Bowl, our DFS lineups need to be more on point in order to stay above the field. Many big name players will have high ownership, so we need to be correct on our studs as well as our value plays. Lineups may also leave some salary on the table, which is fine in these mini slates, don’t feel like you have to spend every dollar.

The Raiders/Bengals game will see more scoring, so we will focus most of our building in this game. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for close to a thousand yards and eight touchdowns in his last two regular season games. We all saw how Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert picked apart that Raider secondary on Sunday night, Burrow will do the same.

The Patriots and Bills game will be a defensive chess match between coaches Bellichick and McDermott, but Bills quarterback Josh Allen put up over 30 fantasy points in their last meeting, which we can’t ignore for a possible repeat performance in the playoffs. But New England’s defense has shown up in big games this year, as well as suffocating inferior opponents. Don’t let their loss to Miami fool you in week 18, coach Bellichick  will have something up his sleeve for the Bills.

Studs We Like:

Quarterback: Josh Allen ($7,900 DK/$8,100 FD) He’s the only other option at the position on this slate, pay up and pray he puts up another thirty-burger. The weather will be a factor though, no wind but will be single digit temperatures in Buffalo. He’s no stranger to the cold though, have no fear, this is Allen’s fifth season as the signal caller in the frigid northeast.

Fade:

Mac Jones ($5,300 DK/$6,500 FD) The last visit to Buffalo for the rookie quarterback threw the ball three times… He’s not one to roll with this weekend especially with a forecast of three degrees at kickoff.

Running Back:

Joe Mixon ($7,100 DK/$8,500 FD) The best back on the slate, he’s Burrow’s rock to lean on in the run game. His threat to take off on a fifty yard dash at any given moment opens up the play action pass game all day. Mixon had a career year this season rushing for 1,205 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns.

Devin Singletary ($5,800 DK/$6,900 FD) The Bills have finally established a run game featuring the third year back out of Florida Atlantic. And on a cold January night it will be needed, the pigskin may feel like a block of ice to catch come game time. Over the last five games Singletary has claimed the lead back role in Buffalo averaging over 80 yards on the ground and 20 yards through the air, scoring five total touchdowns.

Wide Receiver:

Hunter Renfrow ($6,400 DK/$7,300 FD) Has made himself into Vegas’ number one passing option for Derek Carr. He’s seen close to 50 targets in the last six games, mainly due to Darren Waller suffering a knee injury on Thanksgiving. Catching for over a thousand yards with nine touchdowns for the season, he is a key piece to the Raider offense.

Tee Higgins ($6,300 DK/$6,900 FD) “You mean Ja’Marr Chase, right?” You may be asking, but he is a no brainer to start. We also like Higgins, who has also had some pretty big games this year, like his two touchdown, 12 catches for 194 yard explosion against Baltimore in week 17.

Fade:

All Patriot Receivers… Mac Jones will be throwing it, but to who? Too risky to pick one up and they go 3 for 30, six fantasy points will not cut it on any of their salaries.

Tight End:

Darren Waller ($5,700 DK/$6,300 FD) He put up a dud in the Raider win against L. A., but the volume was still there, seeing nine targets in his first game back from injury. For Vegas to win they will need big fella to show up. Cincinnati ranks 26th in defending the position.

C. J. Uzomah ($3,300 DK/$5,000 FD) The Raiders are also pretty bad at defending tight ends, as they rank 25th. The Bengals are stacked at receiver, which may get Uzomah some single coverage. At almost min pricing, he is a sneaky play for value too.

Value:

Gabe Davis ($3,900 DK/$5,200 FD) He had a nice three-game stretch of double digit fantasy points in the absence of  veteran receivers Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders. But his ceiling is still high, as he saw 14 targets against the Jets in week 18. Allen has clearly formed a chemistry with the second year pass catcher from UCF.

Bryan Edwards ($3,300 DK/$5,100) Fourth in the pecking order for the Raider receiver core, but he’s been slowly trending in the right direction for fantasy. The big play capability has helped his value, as he caught a 35 yard pass from Carr to help set up a score. His low risk high reward is pretty enticing for this slate.
