The early game went about as expected with Seth Jarvis getting an assist in his first game for the Carolina Hurricanes. The 2020 draft is ramping up their NHL contributions quicker than some other recent classes. Our Dougie also had a monster day with a goal and 10 shots! We think he should get a double bonus for getting five shots twice, but that’s just us. The Montreal Canadiens continue their downward spiral after getting hosed by the Anaheim Ducks. Congratulations to Ryan Getzlaf for passing Teemu Selanne for most points in franchise history. Only 11 more to 1000 points. What a career.
For today’s focus session know this: the Kraken are on the end of a back to back, the Blackhawks still suck and there is no way we take a goalie from the Capitals vs Lightning game. Let’s dig in.
Here’s a greasy lineup For DFS Hockey 11/1/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Center | L. Draisaitl | $8,100 |
Center | ||
Wing | ||
Wing | Killorn | $4,800 |
Wing | ||
Defense | T. Barrie | $4,800 |
Defense | ||
Goalie | M. Koskinen | $8,100 |
Utility | $4,500 |
Before you actually take Mikko Koskinen, check to see if Mike Smith has been activated from IR. If he is, then he is likely the starter and worth grabbing. There is a good chance that Joey Daccord gets the nod for Seattle and we really, really want to take him but not just yet. The Oilers are putting up video game numbers with the usual suspects of McDavid and Draisaitl.
On the rare occasion that we openly went for the big gun in Edmonton we always went with McDavid. That makes sense and all but Leon Draisaitl deserves the nod occasionally too. We are always stoked to bring you point per game players but Drai can hit two per this year. McDavid, honestly, might hit three. Just stupid.
Let us balance that out with Alex Killorn. He is ONLY a point per game. What a scrub, right? Top line Tampa Bay is the place to be and he is not letting go of his chokehold on the position. For less than five grand he is more than likely than not to get you a point and has been getting around three shots a game which is always a nice bonus.
Funds are getting a little right already so we are going to pinch a penny that we usually do not. Tyson Barrie does not get all the minutes you would hope for but he serves a very specific purpose. He is the key to the Oilers blueline on the power play. We normally go after Nurse but we think this is a good savings for you with the upside that tonight’s matchup as a whole offers.
Here Is What You Get If You Sign Up For $99 For Six Months
• A first round pick from the 2019 draft and another first rounder from the 2020 draft
• Another sub $5,000 point per game player
• The best fantasy advice on the internet. Monday Night Football is tonight and there are nine NBA games to choose from. Let us do all the heavy lifting for you so you can just enjoy sports!
Even though the Oilers are likely to win the game, they have their issues and their goaltenders are not exactly spring chickens. Slide Yanni Gourde into your lineup for a perfect second center. We have him listed as utility just so it is not obvious who we are choosing. Just another point per game player on a discount. Not a big deal.
Another player who is cheaper and a little higher risk right now is Tim Stutzle. It has been a slow start to the season for him, but we attribute that to lack of a high end center. The Blackhawks are ripe for the picking though and he is still insanely talented. If you have the extra cash, go for Drake Batherson for sure, but Stutzle is looking to build on his two assist game.
New player alerts! Martin Fehervary is a guy we have had our eye on for a couple years. The left side of Washington’s D-corp always looked like it would be an easy path forward for the right person. Fehervary is that guy. He is already getting top pair minutes with John Carlson while being relegated to second power play time. He is going to mature very fast and has already look cool, calm, and composed.
Over in the forward group and another fresh face is Connor McMichael. A first round pick in 2019 he has elevated himself to second line center. We were considering Anthony Mantha today as well on his wing. McMichael had an electric World Juniors putting up eight points in seven contests. He has not looked back and snagged himself a roster spot out of camp.
November is upon us and we look forward to Thanksgiving and getting into the full swing of the holidays. We will always be over on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) if that is your thing. Have yourselves a great week and stay warm (or cool if you are in the Southwest).
