DFS NFL Quarterback Picks for Week 5 – 2021

Jalen Hurts So Good

The cream has been rising to the top at the quarterback position, but there are still some bargains out there that you can save money with and use elsewhere. Check out this week’s best picks at quarterback to help you win some cash for Week 5 and who to stay away from.

Kyle Murray – ($8,000 DK, $8,500 FD) – Murray is still the most expensive quarterback as he and Mahomes are battling out for the top spot in fantasy football. Mahomes plays on Sunday night, so he’s not in the conversation for this Sunday’s slate. Murray plays at home versus San Francisco who have been pretty bad against quarterbacks this year. Murray destroys teams when playing at home versus a bad defense. He averages 36.05 fantasy points per game and is 100 percent consistent. He’s a must-start this week!

Jalen Hurts – BEWARE – ($7,000 DK, $8,100 FD) – Look, I can’t argue with Hurts so far this year. He’s fourth in total points and 100% consistent. However, he has played all four games against teams who are ranked 23rd and higher in points given up to quarterbacks so far this season. This week he plays at Carolina, which is ranked sixth in giving up the fewest points to quarterbacks. I would temper expectations this week and look elsewhere for your DFS teams.

• You will see my under-$5,000 sleeper quarterback that could be GPP gold.

Best Value QB – Trevor Lawrence – ($5,800 DK, $6,500 FD) – As I mentioned last week, the DFS sites keep raising the prices every week on the quarterbacks, so bargains are tough to find. However, I feel like Lawrence has the potential this week. Lawrence’s best game was against a bad defense (Hou) in Week 1. This week, he gets another bad defense in the Titans. If you need to save money, this is a good option for this week.

Best Mid-Value QB – Daniel Jones – ($6,000 DK, $7,400 FD) – I had Jones here a few weeks ago as he’s been a fairly consistent quarterbacks this year and is a great mid-value bargain. On DK, he’s only $200 more than Lawrence, but on FanDuel, it’s $900. Either way, this week he gets the terrible Cowboys defense. They rank 30th in points given up the quarterbacks and this should be a shoot-out between the NFC East rivals. In playing away versus a bad defense, Jones has averaged 35.60 fantasy points per game and is 100 percent consistent. He’s my favorite value this week.

BEWARE – QB – Justin Herbert – ($6,800 DK, $7,700 FD) – Herbert has been okay this year. Only ranks 14th in total points and is 50 percent consistent. He has struggled in the past when playing at home versus a good defense and the Browns are ninth in giving up the fewest points to quarterbacks. When playing at home versus a good defense, Herbert has averaged 14.23 fantasy points per game and is zero percent consistent. I’ll pass.

Overall, this week we are seeing some potentially huge values but a few people to stay away from that we normally give a full endorsement.
