We have six games today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees, taking on Freddie Freeman and the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta. The highest implied run totals tonight sit with the Houston Astros  (5.6), Pittsburgh Pirates (4.8), and the Atlanta Braves (4.6).

The weather looks good today with the chances of rain below ten percent for each of the games.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 8/23/21 (using DraftKings Values)

 PitcherZack Grienke $8,900
 Pitcher
 Catcher
 First Base
 Second BaseJose Altuve $5,500
 Third Base
 Short StopCarlos Correa $4,600
 OutfieldKetel Marte $4,600
 Outfield
 OutfieldJorge Soler $4,300

Zack Greinke-  P  ($8,900) – We are hoping to get a few strikeouts from Grienke tonight. He went six innings in his last start against the Royals and only gave up one run, but had no strikeouts. If we can get a few strikeouts from him today he should be a good value.

Jose Altuve– 2B  ($5,500) – Altuve has seven hits in his last two games, and three doubles, and a triple in these last four games. If you’re going to pay up for a bat tonight, Altuve is the way to go.

Carlos Correa–SS ($4,600) – We are going to go back to Correa today, even though he didn’t have a great game yesterday. He has a great value today, and with the Astros expected to be the highest-scoring team today, using Correa makes sense at his price.

Ketel Marte – OF ($4,600) – In Marte’s last three games he has accumulated six hits, three doubles, and a home run. The diamondbacks likely won’t see a lot of use so Marte can be a nice differentiator.

Jorge Soler  – OF ($4,300)  Soler has two home runs in his last three games, and he has crushed left-handed pitching this year with 11 home runs in just 121 at-bats, and a batting average that is nearly 30 points higher against lefties.

The Pitchers

Kyle Hendricks ($8,100) Hendricks looks like he could be getting things back on track. In his last start, he gave up just three hits and one run going up against a tough Reds lineup. He will get an easier task tonight facing the Rockies at home.

Lance Lynn ($9,900) – Lynn will face a Blue Jays team that struggled to score against a Tigers pitching staff that isn’t overly intimidating. Lynn has only given up more than one run in two of his last nine outings so he could be well worth his cost tonight, and likely with low ownership.

Huascar Ynoa ($8,300) – Ynoa was stellar in his return from the injury list against the Marlins. He gave up just three hits and no runs. He will face a bigger test today in the Yankees, but the Braves have been nearly unbeatable at home.

The Value Players

Luke Voit – 1B ($3,100) – Voit is a nice value right now. He has seven hits in his last three games, with three doubles, a home run, and eight RBI’s. It’s not the easiest pitching matchup tonight, but it is hard to deny how well Voit has been playing.

Martin Maldonado –C ($3,800) – The price is right for Maldonado. He is inexpensive, and he will give you a piece of an Astros lineup that is expected to score the most runs tonight.

Kyle Seager – 3B  ($3,800) – Seager has hits in seven straight games, and he has hit four home runs in his last seven games. This is a great price for that kind of production, especially on a shorter slate.

The Stacks

Arizona Diamondbacks – We talked about how well Marte is playing, but you can add Josh Rojas, and Pavin Smith and have a low cost, low ownership stack.

Houston Astros – Having already discussed Correa, Altuve, and Maldonado, you could also look at Taylor Jones, Yuli Gurriel, and Jake Meyers to help keep the cost down.

Atlanta Braves – As noted, I would start with Soler, and add Austin Riley and Dansby Swanson to get a nice share of three top-of-the-order bats on a Braves team that is playing really well right now.
