We’ve got a massive 15-game slate for Friday. There are a ton of pitching options to choose from. Shocking, I know. I did okay in math when I was younger. That said, I identified the pitching I wanted fairly quickly. Coors Field is on the slate and I’m going back to that game as some of the prices are palatable. There are a lot of games with low run projections. MIA, PIT, WAS, PHI, and DET are all projected for fewer than four runs. OAK is projected for at least five runs while no teams are projected for fewer than three runs. NYM/SD, CHC/SF, SEA/LAA, MIN/KC, ARI/MIL, TB/TEX, and BOS/NYY haven’t had their lines posted yet.
There’s a little rain forecasted for the BOS/NYY game, but it doesn’t look too daunting.

Shohei Ohtani ($7,600)
Ohtani has a 13.7 percent swinging strike rate and has struck out 50 batters in 36.1 innings. The big bugaboo is the 26 walks. That said, the FIP is 3.85 and he’s been excellent at limiting the long ball. Now he gets to face the Mariners who are 10th in strikeouts against right-handed pitching. Ohtani threw 93 pitches in his last start so it should be all systems go.
Sean Murphy ($4,500)
Murphy bats fifth in the order and the Athletics are visiting Coors Field. Yippee! Now, Jon Gray has been tough against righties but I had the salary for Murphy and felt good including him in the little mini-stack I have.
Mitch Moreland ($3,200)
Gray has allowed six home runs on the season. All six have come at Coors Field. Four of those have been served up to lefties. On the season, the K/9 is 5.5, the strikeout rate is 13.9 percent, and the FIP is 4.91 against left-handed bats. Moreland has a career .256/.325/.467 slash with a .211 ISO against right-handed pitching.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. ($4,800)
Jazz bats lead off for the Marlins. The strikeout rate is high at 34.9 percent but he has six home runs and nine stolen bases on the season. Multiple paths to fantasy goodies. The .272 batting average is fueled by a .385 BABIP so some regression will come at some point but he’s balling right now. He’s scored double-digit DKFP in two of the last three games.
Seth Brown ($3,400)
Brown will likely bat cleanup for the Athletics. In Coors Field. Yummy. Seven of his eight home runs have come against right-handed pitching this season. In his career, the slash is .235/.301/.459 with a .224 ISO against righties.

Max Scherzer ($11,400)
Scherzer has struck out 95 batters in 69.1 innings. His one blemish is the long ball. Well, he gets to face a Phillies team that is 21st in ISO and 7th in strikeouts against right-handed pitching.
Brendan Rodgers ($3,400)
Rodgers bats seventh in the order but he’s cheap and batting in Coors Field. In 35 plate appearances this season, the slash is .161/.257/.161. Yuck. The BABIP is .217, though, so some good fortune should come his way. Frankie Montas is a decent pitcher but he has reverse splits as the K/9 is 6.67 for righties compared to 12.46 against lefties. The FIP is 5.82 and the HR/9 IS 2.22 versus 1.19 against lefties.
Josh Fuentes ($3,900)
Fuentes has five home runs and a .172 ISO. He’s been much better against left-handed pitching but three of his five home runs have come against righties.
Yonathan Daza ($3,000)
Daza will likely bat second for the Rockies. He has one home run and two stolen bases on the season. The strikeout rate is only 19.3 percent. He has a career .050 ISO so don’t expect the power game but scoring runs and wreaking a little havoc on the base paths are viable outcomes. The slash is .333/.376/.398. It’s fueled by a .412 BABIP but we are in Coors Field.
Randall Grichuk ($4,700)
Zack Greinke has reverse splits. The slash is .279/.313/.459 slash compared to .192/.241/.298 against lefties. Seven of the nine home runs allowed have been to righties. Grichuk has 11 home runs on the season with a 19.4 percent strikeout rate and .286/.318/.515 slash. Seven of the 11 home runs have been hit off righties.
Alternative Moves…
Teoscar Hernandez – OF ($4,800 DK) – Hernandez has eight home runs and four stolen bases so multiple paths to fantasy goodies. He strikes out more than Grichuk but the slash is a robust .300/.352/.493. He’s been much better against left-handed pitching but that doesn’t mean he’s been terrible against righties. Five of the eight home runs have been hit off righties.
Blake Snell – P ($9,200 DK)
Snell has been a bit of a disappointment. The K/9 is fantastic at 13.4 and the swinging strike rate is 12.7 percent, although that’s down from 15 percent last season. The BB/9 is 5.94, though, and the FIP is 4.41. He’s also allowed eight home runs in 47 innings. Now he gets to face a Mets team that is 18th in strikeouts and 21st in ISO against left-handed pitching. The Mets are dead-last in runs scored by a wide margin.
