We’ve got a 10-game slate for Wednesday. There are a ton of top pitching options today so many paths to victory from that perspective. That does shrink down the pool of pitchers to attack, though. There are four teams projected for fewer than four runs (STL, MIL, MIA, and SEA). There is one team projected for at least five runs (LAD). There is one team projected for fewer than three runs (SEA). Three games did not have their totals released yet (NYY/TB, OAK/BOS, and KC/DET).
It looks like clear skies all throughout the slate.

Zac Gallen ($9,000)
The only blemish to Gallen’s start to the season has been the walks – 14 in 26.2 innings. Outside of that, things look really good. He’s struck out 32 batters and has a 2.99 FIP. The swinging strike rate isn’t great but isn’t bad either at 10.6 percent. He’s only allowed one home run on the season. Now he faces a Marlins team that is 4th in strikeouts and 27th in ISO against right-handed pitching.
Sean Murhpy ($4,300)
We are attacking Eduardo Rodriguez today. Am I crazy about it? I am not but I felt it was the best option considering price. Rodriguez’s numbers are solid to start the season but he’s been susceptible to righties. Facing 105 righties on the season, the slash is .273/.305/.495 and he’s allowed five home runs. Murphy has four home runs on the season and a career .202 ISO against left-handed pitching.
Christian Walker ($3,400)
Walker was the last piece to the puzzle. He’s struggled out of the gate, as the slash is .197/.265/.279 and the ISO is a paltry .082. He’s a career .204 ISO batter, though, and he could get right against Marlins pitching. I see conflicting info as to who the starter will be, but it looks like either Nick Neidert or Daniel Castano will get the call. Neidert has a 8.02 FIP in 12 innings with a 6.1 percent swinging strike rate. Castano has a 5.58 FIP in 17.1 innings with a 7.4 percent swinging strike rate.
David Fletcher ($3,300)
Fletcher doesn’t have much pop but he has a little speed on the basepaths. The main allure is that he bats leadoff for the Angles so run scoring opportunities and more plate appearances could be increased. Jose Urquidy only has 29 strikeouts in 41 innings and has allowed 16 earned runs.
Ramon Laureano ($4,500)
Laureano has seven home runs and eight stolen bases so multiple paths to fantasy goodies. Plus, that Green Monster looks promising after staring at the cavernous Oakland Coliseum. We are stacking against Rodriguez and hoping that his struggles against righties persist.

Danny Duffy ($8,900)
Duffy has been so good to start the season. He has 40 strikeouts in 35.2 innings and has only allowed five earned runs. The swinging strike rate is 14.1 percent and he gets to face a Tigers team that is numero uno in strikeouts and dead-last in ISO against left-handed pitching.
Jed Lowrie ($4,700)
Batting second in the Athletics lineup. Lowrie has three home runs on the season and the plate discipline numbers are very good – 9.8 percent walk rate and 18 percent strikeout rate. The slash is .275/.346/.433. He’s a switch hitter who has a slightly better batting average against lefties but slightly less power.
Matt Chapman ($4,800)
Chapman has five home runs and a .180 ISO on the season. He’s a career .243 ISO batter, though. Against lefties, he has a career .223 ISO. Now, the strikeout rate is high at 34 percent but when he gets into one, it’s sayonara. The Green Monster could be a welcome sight for Chapman as well.
Mark Canha ($3,800)
Canha bats leadoff for the Athletics. He has five home runs and six stolen bases on the bases. Huh, his career high in that department is seven. The plate discipline numbers are great with a 12.9 percent walk rate and 19.4 percent strikeout rate. The ISO is also a respectable .159 but he’s a career .194 ISO player. Against lefties, he has a career .199 ISO.
Justin Upton ($3,200)
I went over Urquidy’s numbers in the Fletcher blurb. Upton is a feast-or-famine player. The strikeout rate is 29.6 percent but he has seven home runs on the season. He goes through long stretches of futility but he goes on white-hot heaters as well. He’s hit a home run in two of the last four games. Giddyup.
Alternative Moves…
Jorge Soler – OF ($3,300 DK) – Like Upton, Soler is feast or famine. The strikeout rate is 29.8 percent but the ISO is only .145 this season. He’s a career .218 ISO player. Casey Mize has a 5.34 FIP and 8.8 percent swinging strike rate. He’s allowed five home runs in 32.2 innings.
Hyun Jin Ryu – P ($7,100 DK)
The matchup seems daunting as the Braves have one of the most potent offenses in the league. That said, against left-handed pitching this season, they are 7th in strikeouts and 26th in ISO. On the season, Ryu has a 3.1 FIP and 12.9 percent swinging strike rate. He’s allowed only 12 earned runs in 32.2 innings with only four walks.
