We have a huge ten game slate to talk about for tonight. As always with slates of this size, we have multiple strong plays and a few directions we can go with our lineup for this one. With that said, we are going to be rostering a lot of guys from the Utah Jazz, as we have a huge value opportunity from them for tonight. Mike Conley is going to be joining Donovan Mitchell on the bench, and the
Jazz have a perfect matchup with the Kings. As a result, we are looking at Utah for most of our value plays and a few studs. Furthermore, we are going to talk about a few guys who have great opportunities here, as well as our favorite stud in NBA DFS right now. We are going with a somewhat stars and scrubs build here, as we have a few great budget plays. With that said, we are getting a few mid-priced guys, as we have some priorities in that range.
Here’s a studs and duds lineup For DFS Basketball 4/28/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | J. Clarkson | $6,900
Shooting Guard | T. Haliburton | $7,100
Small Forward | J. Ingles | $6,700
Power Forward | |||
Center | |||
Guard | |||
Forward | $5,100 | ||
Utility | P. Pritchard | $4,000 |
We mentioned that the Jazz are our favorite target for tonight as there is a massive opportunity with both Mitchell and Conley off the floor. Jordan Clarkson is a lock for us here, even at his price of $6,900. That is because Clarkson should be doing everything for the Utah offense tonight. The Jazz are seriously low on shot creators with there star guards out. Clarkson will have to do a lot for them tonight in terms of playmaking, and we expect him to be the top usage guy as well. We saw Clarkson go for over 40 FPTS in a tough matchup last time Conley and Mitchell were both out. Tonight, the Jazz have a fantastic matchup with the Kings.
In the two games since De’Aaron Fox has been out. It has been the Tyrese Haliburton show in Sacramento. In both games since Fox has went down, Haliburton has unsurprisingly played high 30’s in minutes. Beyond the floor time, Haliburton has been the number one piece of the offense for the Kings, as we have seen massive usage and playmaking from him. Haliburton has shot 16 and 20 attempts in the two games without Fox, scoring 10 and 8 assists, respectively. Haliburton has been priced up to $7,100, which is still too cheap for the kind of opportunity he has been seeing offensively. Haliburton has upside for a much bigger game then we have yet seen, as he has as high usage as anybody right now.
There is a going to be a ton of extra usage lying around for the Jazz tonight, as the first option and primary playmaker are both out. So much so that we are glad to pay $6,700 for Joe Ingles in this spot. We expect Ingles to be a top usage guy along Clarkson for the Jazz tonight. Ingles has been playing massive minutes lately, and he should play over 30 minutes tonight with the injuries. Furthermore, Ingles has already been taking a lot of usage without Conley, and he has showed 50 FPTS upside recently. Ingles has been shooting a lot every game recently, we expect he needs to put more shots up without Conley to create offense. If Ingles shot is falling here, he should be one of the better plays on the slate.
We know that Kemba Walker remains out tonight for the Boston Celtics. A few other guys are up in the air, but we are all over Payton Pritchard regardless of how those questionable tags fall. Pritchard has consistently played big minutes when Walker is not available. We have seen him put out solid production at almost every opportunity without Walker lately. In his last two opportunities without Walker, Pritchard put up 33.75 and 40.75 FPTS. We are getting Pritchard at only $4,000 here and he could easily be an incredible play as we have seen the last few times he got the start at point. Even if we do not see the huge upside here, we are confident Pritchard gives us solid value.

Royce O’Neale – PF ($4,900 DK) O’Neale allows us to get a ton of Jazz minutes without paying a big price tag. O’Neale scored 27 FPTS last game and has scored over 30 FPTS in two of his past five games. He has seen a massive boost since Mitchell has got hurt, which has led to much more solid outings from him. O’Neale played 34 minutes in each of his past two games. With Conley out, we expect O’Neale to see an even bigger boost in both minutes and usage. With the matchup against the Kings, O’Neale is looking too cheap at $4,900.
Demarcus Cousins – C ($4,100 DK) Cousins is probably not the center we would be going to for cash games tonight. However, he looks good at this price and his upside is fantastic here. Cousins signed a 1-year deal with the Clippers, and played great in his one game since. We saw Cousins play 25 minutes that game and score 35.25 FPTS. Cousins scored 26 FPTS in less minutes the game before, and we know it does not take much for him to put out some decent production. We are hoping the Clippers are committing to running Cousins more solid minutes, in which case he is certainly too cheap.
Russell Westbrook – G ($11,100 DK) Westbrook has been tremendous for a while now and we want to roster him whenever we get the chance. When we have as many cheap plays as we do tonight, it is quite easy to roster Westbrook. Westbrook scored over 64 FPTS last game, and he has scored over 60 FPTS in six of his past ten games. Westbrook’s 40.25 FPTS against the Spurs a few slates ago was his first performance under 55 FPTS in weeks. Westbrook has been showing the highest upside in the league lately, scoring between 70 and 90 FPTS on his good nights. With that said, he is also showing by far the highest floor in the league, scoring 55 or more FPTS almost every game. Westbrook is too cheap at $11,000 and is head and shoulders above any other play on the slate in terms of raw points.
Thaddeus Young – F ($5,100 DK) Young was the last guy in for us, and there is nothing that makes him a lock here. With that said, Young has been great lately and he is cheap for the production he has been showing. Young has scored over 30 FPTS in three of his past five outings, which is what we are looking for at this price.
Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 4/28/21 (using FanDuel Values)
Point Guard | R. Westbrook | $11,100
Point Guard | P. Pritchard | $4,100
Shooting Guard | T. Haliburton | $7,000
Shooting Guard | J. Clarkson | $6,300
Small Forward | J. Ingles | $6,100
Small Forward | B. Hield | $6,500
Power Forward | R. O’Neale | $5,300
Power Forward | T. Young | $5,000
Center | B. Adebayo | $8,300 |
Buddy Hield – SF (6,500 FD) Hield is a lot cheaper on FanDuel then DraftKings tonight, but he is a solid play on both sites. With Fox out, we expect to see a massive usage boost for Hield. Hield did not play too many minutes last game due to a back-to-back and scored over 30 FPTS. Harrison Barnes is questionable as of now, Hield is a lock if Barnes is out. However, Hield looks like a solid play regardless.
Bam Adebayo – C (8,300 FD) Adebayo is not a lock here, as we have a few other solid centers to go to. However, he is cheap here and has some great upside. Adebayo has been great lately and put up 50 FPTS a few games ago. The Spurs frontcourt will likely struggle to contain Adebayo and we are hoping for another big game here. At this price, a big game from Adebayo would give our lineup some huge potential.
Good luck everyone, keep an eye on the news as we have a ton of questionable tags right now.
