The Vancouver Canucks are playing again for the first time in a few weeks. Their Covid situation has been horrific to put it mildly. We have no idea what their physical level is at and there is no way it is good. Players who did not contract the virus have said that they are now out of shape and are going to have a hard time. Time to stock up on Maple Leafs!

Auston Matthews is listed as day to day but as his notes will tell you he is playing tonight. There are few opportunities for the type of utter destruction he is likely to inflict on Vancouver. Everyone wearing blue and white tonight is licking their lips for this opportunity. It is orca hunting season.
Mitch Marner was a beast even when Matthews was sidelined with injury. Putting the boys back together is going to be playtime. They are a pair that sometimes seem to have too much fun on the ice and tonight should be an exhibition match.
Morgan Reilly was on the shortlist to become captain when John Tavares came on board. He is in his eighth season with the team that drafted him and provides steady relief on the back end. He is not the most offensively gifted defenseman but he still manages to put up a decent amount of assists and helps where he can. Let us see if he can get his fifth of the season tonight.
Jack Campbell has been setting franchise records in a storied hockey city. The last time we told you to take him we could not tell you why because we knocked on wood that he would get his tenth in a row. He did and it was one of the most wholesome things we have seen in a long time. Marner poking him in the chest counting to 10 will be a highlight of this season for years to come.

Center | A. Matthews | $9,100
Center | J. Pageau | $3,900
Wing | M. Marner | $7,800 | |
Wing | Y. Sharangovich | $3,700
Wing | O. Wahlstrom | $3,000
Defense | M. Rielly | $5,200
Defense | N. Dobson | $2,700
Goalie | J. Campbell | $8,200
Utility | M. Barzal | $6,300 |
Mat Barzal – U is listed as a winger next to Travis Zajac which we find hard to believe. It gets us an extra center so we are not complaining. The Islanders got smoked by the Bruins and face a flimsy Philly team on the tail end of a back to back. This one may also get biblical.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau – C found himself in one of the best situations in the entire league. A rising team that needs his kind of depth. JGP has Anthony Beauvillier and Oliver Wahlstrom on his line which no joke could be a top line in a couple other cities. Tune in to this one.
Yegor Sharangovich – W was a bright spot on a bad day. He scored a goal and an assist when the Devils got hosed by the Rangers. Today’s matchup should be a little more even and Sharangovich will highlight all the awesome that Jack Hughes is. We wanted to go for him but with the other matchups we could not.
Oliver Wahlstrom – W. Big stacks today, boys. This will be a strike out or a grand slam.
Noah Dobson – D seems to be sneaking power play time away from Ryan Pulock and is about to hit his next gear. He is pointless since he came back off of the protocol but now is the time to rectify that.
