We have seven games tonight for what is looking like a standard NBA slate. We do not have as much value as we had the last two nights, but there are still a few great opportunities for us to target. Our strategy for the night involves targeting the Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves, as those are the teams with the most injuries as of now. We have gone with a balanced lineup for tonight, as we are using a few budget plays but more midrange options then a traditional stars and scrubs build. We are targeting players with great upside tonight, who should be recipients of some extra usage.
Here’s a balanced lineup For DFS Basketball 3/13/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | K. Lowry | $8,700
Shooting Guard | $6,500 | ||
Small Forward | J. McDaniels | $3,700
Power Forward | $11,000 | ||
Center | A. Baynes | $4,500
Guard | $4,300 | ||
Forward | $3,800 | ||
Utility | C. Capela | $7,500 |
Kyle Lowry scored 41 FPTS last game, and we are looking for a bit more at his $8,700 price tag. However, the Raptors are still missing multiple key players tonight and the usage has been crazy for Lowry. Lowry has averaged 45 FPTS over the last two days, while shooting under 30 percent. With all the injuries, Lowry has a high floor with his extended playmaking duties. If Lowry has a good scoring night, he will absolutely break the slate. The Hornets have weak defenders, and this could be the night it all comes together for Lowry.
It looks like Minnesota will be missing the same four guards as last game. We still have a ton of value on this team for anyone who has not been priced up. Jaden McDaniels is surprisingly only $3,700 tonight, as he scored almost 40 FPTS last game. McDaniels had a great shooting performance and may be a bit less productive tonight. However, anything over 20 FPTS is great at this price. McDaniels should have been priced up way more tonight and he looks like one of the most solid value plays as of now. McDaniels gives us a lot of flexibility tonight and has a nice floor unless more guys are ruled healthy.
A surprising beneficiary of the Raptors injuries has been Aron Baynes. Baynes has seen much more floor time and has got a real role in the offense the last few games. Baynes has been priced up to $4,500, which is not nearly enough for his increased production. Baynes went for 34.8 FPTS last game and his usage was really enticing. Baynes shot the ball 15 times in 30 minutes last game, only shooting 27 percent. If Baynes is to get similar run tonight, he should be the best value play on the slate.
I was surprised to see Clint Capela is only $7,500 against the Kings tonight. Sacramento are one of the best matchups in the league and they have a weak frontcourt. Capela is averaging over 40 FPTS on the season and has been showing his upside lately. The pace up spot typically fairs very well for athletic players like Capela, and we really like betting on a nice game from him here.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our core spend up option tonight
• A midrange stud who is way too cheap for his upside.
• Different value options from the Toronto Raptors
Anthony Edwards – SG (6,500 DK) This is one of those weird spots where Edwards’s price has dropped after a great performance. Edwards stumbled into 40 FPTS last game and he is now even cheaper. Edwards played 37 minutes and shot the ball 22 times last game, which lead to his solid production. The Timberwolves are still missing all their high usage guards and Edwards should see similar usage tonight. Edwards has some of the best upside on the slate, and he is lined up to crush value on a subpar shooting performance.
Giannis Antetokounmpo – PF ($11.000 DK) You probably do not need someone to tell you to play Antetokounmpo against the Washington Wizards. Antetokounmpo is the best per minute producer in NBA DFS and the Wizards are the worst defensive squad in the league. Antetokounmpo should be able to absolutely crush in this spot and we have seen how consistently he has monster games. Antetokounmpo shows colossal upside on a weekly basis and he is lined up for one his big nights against Washington.
Terrence Davis – G ($4,300 DK) Davis only played about 10 minutes last game, but he was questionable before the game. It does not make sense for Davis to play so little when Toronto has so many injuries. If we do not get injury news on Davis tonight, he should be in for a much better performance. Davis is one of the only adequate ball handlers on the Raptors roster tonight, and he can have a nice performance if the Raptors run him big minutes.
Stanley Johnson – f ($3,800 DK) If Deandre Bembry starts and Johnson doesn’t tonight, I might pivot to him at the same price. However, I prefer Johnson if they both start. Johnson scored 22.5 FPTS for Toronto last night and showed some real play making ability when Lowry was off the floor. Johnson should continue to be forced to show his offensive repertoire, and he really does not need to do much at this price. There is still a ton of extra minutes for Toronto, and it is our main source of value unless more news breaks.
Alternative Moves…
Chris Boucher – C ($6,600 DK) Boucher looks great tonight as the Hornets have been going small lately. Boucher has taken on a much bigger scoring load with the injured Raptors and has upside for a huge game tonight. Boucher scored over 50 FPTS last game and his price has only gone up $100. I would suggest limiting your Raptors plays to three or four max, but Boucher is a phenomenal play for the price.
Nikola Jokic– C ($10,900 DK) One of the strangest things happening in NBA DFS this season is DraftKings refusal to price Jokic at $11,000 despite his averaging 60 FPTS. Jokic went for 62.8 FPTS last game and we have consistently seen that level of production from him. Jokic should be able to feast in a matchup with Dallas who run an outright confused frontcourt. The only problem with this play is there is a lot of opportunity cost at this position across the price spectrum.
Have a good weekend everybody and watch the news for tonight, I have a feeling more value is yet to open up.
