The craziest season in memory is now half way over. Divisions are stratifying and the playoff picture is getting a little clearer. With one month to go before the trade deadline there are some important positions and developments surrounding who to keep an eye on. Will Buffalo sell everything? Will Toronto keep flaunting the basic laws of mathematics and be buyers? What does that mean for fantasy? Stay tuned because we have at least one player to focus on in this.
Here’s a balanced lineup For DFS Hockey 3/11/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Center | $5,800 | ||
Center | D. Cozens | $3,300
Wing | D. Pastrnak | $8,700
Wing | $5,600 | ||
Wing | $3,200 | ||
Defense | J. Petry | $6,300
Defense | $3,700 | ||
Goalie | Vasilevskiy | $8,400
Utility | $5,000 |
Dylan Cozens is a top ten draft pick from 2019 and he has earned himself the top position on the Buffalo Sabres. That may not seem like much but with Eichel out and potentially being traded, Cozens is trying to prove he can fill that void.
David Pastrnak has fifteen shots in his last two games. Coming off a tough loss to the New York Islanders the Boston Bruins are looking to stem the bleeding. We all know Pasta will do whatever he can to score and has some of the best linemates in the world to set him up.
Jeff Petry is having an absolutely electric season. We had actually forgotten that he scored a goal last night because we were obsessed with watching Shea Weber’s slapshot score over and over. Those two together are a nightmare.
Andre Vasilevskiy seems unstoppable these days. By his standards the last three games were subpar. They still resulted in wins because the Lightning are the Lightning. They will make the adjustments to not let the Red Wings score three on them again. Vasi should have a big game.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
- At least one Maple Leaf.
- A couple impulse buys we have wanted to play.
- A utility player that we have been calling to get promoted.
Elias Lindholm – C ($5,800 DK) is back to top line center position in Calgary. The best part about this is that Matthew Tkachuk is on his wing. That pairing has not happened nearly enough this season and we cannot wait to see what they can do together.
Dillon Dube – W ($3,200 DK). We do not have the money for Tkahuk today but we are happy to go after Dube. He is a solid stack with Lindholm and they have enjoyed success together already. He is making a name for himself quickly.
William Nylander – W ($5,600 DK) gets a ton of hate from Leafs fans but that chorus is starting to quiet. In a team of superstars he is still managing to get his name in the conversation. He has ten goals so far and will be scoring more no doubt.
Mackenzie Weegar – D ($3,700 DK). Weegar’s name has been floating up more and more recently and we do not mind spending a little on him to see what he can do. He does not get top power play time but he is making an impact in games. You will hear Ekblad and Yandle’s names plenty but do not count Mackenzie out.
Nick Suzuki – U ($5,000 DK) will be who we swap out for some extra cash but he finally did what we have been calling for all year. He is top line in Montreal. Danault has been relegated to the third line and Suzuki had better show it was the right decision. He hasn’t scored in a couple games but he is hungry.
Alternative Moves…
Mitch Marner – W ($7,800 DK). Swap out Pasta and save yourself an easy $900. We know what Mitch can do and with Matthews back he is going to want to unleash hell.
Scott Laughton – W ($3,600 DK). Swap out Suzuki and get a ton of tasty value. Laughton had been playing well as the third line center but has cozied up to Kevin Hayes on the second line and can do some damage. He gets a couple shots and a couple blocks just to give you a little higher floor as well.
Charlie McAvoy – D ($5,900 DK). Swap out Petry and you will have plenty of cash on hand to do everything except get Matthews. Sorry, the numbers are hard to make work when a guy costs that much. McAvoy is a worthy investment though. He is a stallion.
Get your fill of hockey tonight and do not miss the Capitals vs Flyers game if you want the best tilt. A lot of playoff implications are starting to show with each game passed. How did we do? Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). Prost!
