NASCAR DFS Picks for the Bucked Up 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 5, 2021

After a week, off for the Truck Series, we return for this year’s first instalment at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. As a course that has doubled up on races the last three years only three drivers have won the race. Kyle Busch has won three times, Austin Hill twice, and Grant Enfinger once. Now when you have one of the top driver like Kyle Busch racing consistently in a lower level you know that at the end of the race, no matter where he starts he will be right at the front of the pack. In three years, Busch has raced in the Truck Series at Las Vegas and won all three times. With his high price of ($15,000) this week I think it is a little too much for me or really anyone to handle.

Matt Crafton: As one of the series’ steady veterans you can always count on Matt Crafton to race his heart out. Since the start of the 2018 Truck Series season Crafton has raced at Las Vegas six times. In those six races, he has finished in the top-five three time, has four top 10 finishes, and has led four laps. Crafton will start this weekend’s race in the fourth spot which should easily put him in contention to drive for the win. Crafton was able to turn a ninth place start in last weekend’s race into a sixth-place finish. Look for Crafton to lead some laps this coming Friday. 

Stuart Friesen: Coming into Las Vegas race weekend the driver of the number 52 Halmar Friesen Racing Toyota Stewart Friesen will have an advantage over most drivers due to his last four performances at this race course. His advantage is that in his last four races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he has finished fourth twice and ninth once. Las Vegas is a track that Friesen has performed very well at in the last few years. On top of that Friesen has led 68 laps in the last three years at the race course which ties him for fourth in the series. Friesen was right in the thick of it vying for the win last weekend and I think he will be in the running again this weekend. 

Tanner Gray: Returning for his second full time season Tanner Gray is driving the number 15 Ford F-150 for David Gilliland Racing. In Tanners rookie season, he earned four top five finishes and eight top 10 finishes. Outside of his eight races where he finished top 10, he had an average finish of 16.1 in 2020. At Las Vegas in 2020 Gray was excellent. In race one he started 14^th and finished eighth and in race two he started 12^th and finished third. I really like Gray at his price point this week. His starting position of 22^nd and his success at this track line up for a good week of racing for Gray.

Sheldon Creed: This pick is in the realm of a no-brainer to me. Sheldon Creed is likely to be the sure thing week in and week out this year. In last year’s two races at Las Vegas, Creed was able to finish both races in second. I can bet you that fact has not left Creed’s mind coming into this race. Creed will be out for blood. Creed has raced at Las Vegas four times in the last three years where he has two top-five finishes, top four finishes in each race, and has led a series second 97 laps. Creed is one of the best drivers in the series and I cannot see why he doesn’t perform exceptionally on Friday night. 

Grant Enfinger: After winning four races in the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series Grant Enfinger is back to pilot the number 98 Toyota for ThorSport Racing. He will only compete in 12 races this season. Enfinger is in his ninth season in the Truck Series. He has six wins in the series and posted a career-high four victories in 2020. Enfinger has raced at Las Vegas six times in the last three years where he has one win, two top five finishes, three top 10 finishes, and led 46 laps. Safe to say that Enfinger has been really good at Las Vegas. Starting 18^th is a great spot for Enfinger. He has shown that he can win here and will show us again Friday night. 

Chandler Smith: As a 2021 Rookie of the year contender already, Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Chandler Smith is already making a name for himself. In his first two races this year Smith has finished ninth and 12^th. Smith had a very good end to his 2020 season. In his last six races Smith finished top five in five of six. One of those races was at Las Vegas. On intermediate tracks Smith has three top five finishes in the Truck Series. In the ARCA Menards Series in the 2019 and 2020 season, Smith had nine wins, 22 top five finishes, and 29 top 10 finishes.
