Tonight is easily the ugliest DFS slate that we have seen in a couple weeks. We have been spoiled rotten with all the value available lately and have practically been able to play whoever we want. Tonight, there is a clear lack of value on the slate and we will have to be careful with our salary. However, as I have mentioned before a more challenging slate is an advantage for a cunning DFS player. That is because with a lack of value not everyone will be able to submit a competitive lineup. While everyone can build a lineup with a chance when it is easy to find value. We are playing a balanced lineup today, as our priority is playing as much value as possible.
Here’s a balanced lineup For DFS Basketball 3/1/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | $4,900 | ||
Shooting Guard | M. Monk | $5,500
Small Forward | $4,800 | ||
Power Forward | P. Washington | $6,200
Center | N. Jokic | $10,800
Guard | T. McConnell | $6,100
Forward | $8,400 | ||
Utility | $3,200 |
The Charlotte Hornets are still our favorite target tonight as Cody Zeller and Gordon Hayward are still listed as doubtful. Malik Monk worked well for us yesterday and continued his 30+ FPT production. Monk is averaging over 30 across the past ten days and is too cheap at $5,500. Monk will likely play at least 30 minutes again as the Hornets are undermanned. Monk is good value here, which we must capitalize on tonight.
PJ Washington was our big money maker last night as he hit 66.3 FPTS, good for about twelve times value. Washington played well over 40 minutes yesterday in the starting center spot. Expect a similar role from Washington tonight as the Hornets do not have many other options. Washington has only been priced up to $6,200, so he is one of our few locks tonight. It is too hard to turn down the potential Washington explodes again in the same situation.
We do not have the value to play two or three superstars like we have in the past. However, a key feature of tonight’s slate is that we have some great names at the top. Therefore, we wanted to include at least one top tier stud, as frankly the midrange options are not that strong tonight. Nikola Jokic is probably the best value on the slate priced at $10,800. Jokic has been consistently averaging around 60 FPTS and is therefore about $1000 to cheap. Jokic has an ideal matchup against the Bulls tonight which is great for his upside. Jokic really should have been priced up by now as he has shown what he is here to do.
If Malcolm Brogdon, is out again tonight we love rostering T.J. McConnell. McConnell has been surprisingly productive this season and is averaging 32.7 FPTS over the last ten days. McConnell dominated last game without Brogdon, scoring 43.5 FPTS. Expect another big game if Brogdon is out. McConnell is $6,100 tonight and lets us get some real upside without paying for a star. If Brogdon is in, you may want to look elsewhere.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our essential value play for tonight’s slate
• A Midrange play with crazy upside
• Different options to prepare for the night’s news
Monte Morris– PG ($4,900 DK) The Nuggets are missing a few backup guards today and there will be some extra minutes to go around. Morris is likely to start today and should see immense minutes as there are not really any guards to back him up. Morris is fairly priced for tonight, but there is a lot of extra value here with the injuries. Morris will likely be overlooked tonight as no Denver starter is out, however the lack of reserves should give him a massive minute’s boost.
Miles Bridges – SF ($4,800 DK) Bridges is one of our few smash plays as of now. With the missing Hornets Bridges should take a massive role similar to last game. Bridges played 33 minutes last game and scored over 30 FPTS. The Hornets have another good matchup, and we expect similar minutes from Bridges. Bridges is too cheap, which we cannot say about a lot of players tonight. Bridges will probably go high owned, but with his high floor we are happy getting contrarian elsewhere.
DeMar DeRozan – F ($8,400 DK) This price is a few hundred more then we are used to paying for DeRozan. However, he will have a great opportunity tonight against a really weak defense. The Spurs are the lucky bunch who will be playing against the Kings tonight, the worst defensive squad in the league. We try and target the Kings every time they play as it feels like they always give up a monster night to somebody. The Spurs are still missing a few players tonight and we can expect big minutes from DeRozan once again. DeRozan scored 54.8 FPTS last game and has a much better matchup tonight. DeRozan has about as good upside as anyone tonight at a more midrange price point.
Justin Patton– Util ($3,200 DK) If you are not excited about playing Patton tonight, you shouldn’t be. However, we have almost no value on this slate and Patton has a solid floor. Patton is one of the few acceptable plays under $4,000 tonight and it is hard to get away from him. Playing Patton gives us a bit of flexibility and allows us to focus more on the stars, who are better valued then the duds tonight. Patton has been the start at center for Houston which makes him a smash play given our situation.
Alternative Moves…
Joel Embiid – C ($10,600 DK) Embiid has been one of the most dominant producers this season and is always a great play if he is healthy. Embiid is questionable tonight, and is worth a look if ruled in. However, if Embiid is out we have ourselves some value. Look for his backups like Dwight Howard or for other Sixers who snuck into the starting lineup. Winning tonight will probably require you to use value plays that may not be open till after 6:30 PM.
Watch the news tightly, as there are numerous questionable tags we still need rulings on.
