NHL DFS Picks For February 22, 2021

Another day and another hat trick for David Pastrnak. Did you follow our enthusiastic alternate list yesterday and get all the fantasy points? We are dedicated to giving you lots of options to put together your favorite squad and make the money work. There will be plenty more to choose from today so stick with us until after the break. 

One game catching our eye is the Florida Panthers vs Dallas Stars game. Dallas has not played in over a week and the Panthers are on a roll. We also want to caution against the Panthers later in the week as their schedule is packed. We will be trying to pay attention to their energy levels to see if they can continue to bring it or if they are looking like a wounded animal.

There does not feel like much choice here when it comes to Auston Matthews. The reward is too great. He had another four point night with two more goals. Matthews is a true franchise player and one who we are building our roster around every time he is available.

Chris Driedger has been splitting time with an improving Sergei Bobrovski. He has a fun matchup against a Stars team that is well rested but has not played in a long time. They are likely to get a lot of shots off but Driedger has been steadfast in net. 

Travis Boyd. Matthews wing alert! Zach Hyman is out and Boyd is up on the top line in Toronto. You know what that means. Buy, buy, buy. He has skyrocketed in value after crushing it on the fourth line. He even scored his first NHL power play goal. We will take that.

Alexander Wennberg – C ($3,300 DK). With the success of Verhaege on the top line the Panthers are able to move Jonathan Huberdeau to the second line. This is great from Wennberg who is a young center trying to find his place in the NHL. He has an incredible goal scorer that he will be trying to set up. 

Conor Garland – W ($6,900 DK). The Coyotes have been known to have a pack mentality and run somewhat even lines to overwhelm opposition. Garland and his line have made a case that they are number one and deserve more time. It is not John Gibson’s fault but the Ducks have been letting in a ton of goals.  

Carter Verhaeghe – W ($4,600 DK). Speaking of the man himself we may as well toss him on our list. Great matchup and wonderful linemates. His underlying numbers appear solid and we are not looking at a regression any time soon.

Mathieu Joseph – W ($3,200 DK). Has earned his way to the second line in Toronto and so has access to John Tavares and William Nylander. We like those odds for short cash. 

Morgan Rielly – D ($6,400 DK). We are loading up on Leafs today with Calgary’s net being about as porous as Anaheims. The Flames are floundering and Rielly is quarterbacking one of the top power plays in the league against them. Roll with it.

John Klingberg – D ($5,700 DK) may be the savior of the Dallas Stars tonight. He has a high peripheral floor and is also a top power play guy. We love his shot totals and ability to change the game.  

Alternative Moves…

Andre Svechnikov – W ($6,500 DK). Save a few hundred bucks on Garland and get after Svech. He is finally back on the top line with Aho and we are hoping to see them put it together. These two should hopefully not be separated again as they work so well. 

Drew Doughty – D ($5,900 DK) is an oldie but a goodie. Do not look now but the Kings are on a tear and their rebuild may be happening quicker than most people thought. Take Doughty over Rielly and pocket a few hundred in savings.

Shea Weber – D ($5,200 DK) remains one of the most feared blue liners in the game. We flinch sometimes sitting on our couch when he winds up his slapshot. He is deadly. Swap out Hughes and boom your day is done.
